John Henry Hershey was born on 17 March 1787 in Lancaster Co., PA, 1850 census shows John, age 60, born Maryland, and Mary, age 72, also born Maryland. It looks like there was confusion or miscommunication -- Mary was actually 60, and John 63, born in Pennsylvania. Was German still their primary language?
