SonEnoch Fuller+ (b. 1784, d. 9 June 1860)

Biography

Josiah Fuller was born on 17 October 1763 in Amenia, Dutchess Co. (now), NY,

; Date recorded by Roswell Hopkins, as per Settlers of the Beekman Patent, by Frank J. Doherty, p.458. In his 1833 pension depositions for his brother Varsel, Josia stated he was 67 years of age, so he may have been born as late as 1766.

The children of Josiah Fulller and Irena Dickenson are not shown in "Mayflower Families Through Five Generations", Vol. 4, 2nd Edition, however some of them, including the Revolutionary War veteran Varsel Fuller, have been reasonably well documented. See:

"From the Mayflower ... To Michigan" http://www.jowest.net/Genealogy/Jo/Fuller/Fuller.htm

Varsel's brother Josiah Fuller, b. about 1763, is not well documented, but his existence, and survival to relatively old age, is documented via his 1833 affidavits in Warren and Saratoga Counties, New York, in support of Varsel's Revolutionary War pension application. His affidavits establish his parents as Josiah and Irena (Dickenson) Fuller of Amenia.

He married Ruth about 1783. He died after 27 May 1833 in Saratoga Co. (probably), NY.

Josiah Fuller lived in 1790 in Hillsdale, Columbia Co., NY. He lived in 1800 in Saratoga, Saratoga Co., NY.1 He lived in 1810 in Saratoga, Saratoga Co., NY.2 He lived in 1830 in Saratoga, Saratoga Co., NY.

Note:

The will of Matthew Fuller of Barnstable dated 20 July 1768 names "Daughter Anne Fuller the now wife of Samuel Fuller" and "son-in-law Samuell Fuller Junr."

Little is known of Samuel, though he appears to have spent his life in Barnstable. Inventory of the estate of Samuel Fuller late of Barnstable was taken 28 December 1691; it included no real estate. Two days later his sons Matthew, Barnabas, Joseph, and Benjamin quit-claimed to their sisters "Desire Fuller and Sarah Fuller Daughters of sd deceased of all their deceased mother's Apparrel." The 30 December 1691 letter of administration assigns custody of the estate of daughters Desire and Sarah Fuller to be kept until further order. This implies that these daughters were not of age.2

Note:

After being left an orphan in the winter of 1620, shortly after arriving in Plymouth on the Mayflower, Samuel was brought up by his uncle, Dr. Samuel Fuller, the physician of the Pilgrims. Samuel was admitted a freeman in Plymouth Colony in 1634, moved to Scituate in 1635 where he built a house; he joined the Scituate church on 7 November 1636; and was elected constable there in 1641. Sometime later he moved to Barnstable, to which his father-in-law had moved in 1638. Samuel was the only Mayflower passenger to settle permanently in Barnstable and was one of the last surviving Mayflower passengers.2
