"From 1793-1828, the great-grandsons of early New Holland resident Theodorus Eby - Christian and Jacob Eby of Manheim - practiced the meticulous craft of tall-case clock making, producing a number of clocks which are highly prized and sought after to the present day. Five generations later, Ephrata native Christian Earl Eaby [different spelling] is not only living in his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather's restored house, but has also taken up the craft of clock making, and will soon open a clock shop in the restored tobacco barn of the Eby homestead on Peters Road.....The Jacob Eby clocks were unique for a number of reasons....He had a sweep second hand and a calendar hand on the center post of the dial along with the minute and hour hands...It's just a very advanced workmanship for the period when they were making most of the movements by hand, one piece at a time....Eaby's interest in his family's history led to his purchase of the Theodorus Eby homestead...the ongoing restoration work is not yet complete" - Article from Ephrata, Pennsylvania newspaper, Dec. 1993.
