Rebecca J. Vinson was born in 1850 in Indiana 1850 census clearly shows a fraction of a year in age, as of November. She reported "May 1851" on the 1900 census. It appears her mother died in the 1850s and she may not have known when she was born.2,3 She married Patterson Short, son of George Short and Martha McBride, on 27 September 1868 in Tazewell Co., IL, Six children born, all living as of 1900 census. Rebecca J. Vinson died in 1937.

She was buried in 1937 in Bethel Cemetery, Orvil Twp., Logan Co., IL.
