Biography

Susan Caroline Larimore was born on 20 February 1828 in Nashport, Muskingum Co., OH. She married Rev. Lewis Willams. She married Rev. Daniel Williams in Blair or Cumberland Co. (probably), PA.1 She died on 5 February 1900 in Ohio.

Note: "These Build Civilization", pp. 31-32 says her two husbands were unrelated. The book does not clarify which children were from each marriage. The family with her first husband is found in the 1850 census in Blair County, Pennsylvania. Since Caroline was only 22, and her husband was ten years older, the 5-year old daughter Mary was likely from a prior marriage of Lewis Williams, and I have listed her that way. By 1860 when she is found in Cumberland County she had already remarried. Best guess is that, since Walter was 4 and there were no younger children living as of 1860, the second marriage occurred in the late 1850s and the balance of children after Walter were from the second marriage. Note: Per 1930 Larimore book, after George Short died in Ohio, Mattie relocated with her children to Emden, Illinois and married a Samuel Berry and had a son, also named Samuel Berry. However she is listed on the 1860 census as Martha Short, age 47, living with her son John at Hopedale Twp., Tazewell County, and again in 1870 as Martha Short, age 59, living with her son George at Prairie Creek Twp., Logan County, so this was clearly an error in the book.
