DEERFIELD: Glenn Ivan Furgason, 77, of Deerfield, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian. He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of Bernard and Lila (Suydam) Furgason. On Aug. 4, 1945, he was married to Deloris Manthey at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palmyra, Mich. Glenn was a veteran of the United States Army and had served in World War II. He owned and operated the Deerfield Mobil Gas Station from 1954 until 1972. He then went to work for the Deerfield Co-Op Association, where he drove truck and remained there until he retired in 1990. Glenn enjoyed reading, spending winters in Florida, working on engines and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris of Deerfield; his children, Dian (Raymond) Gallatin of Howell, Mich., Carol (Monty) Love of Deerfield, Marcia (Mike) Gilson of Deerfield and Elaine (Tom) Korican of Tecumseh; grandchildren Conrad Cannon of Saline, Chad Gallatin of Brighton, Mich., Rachelle Gallatin of Howell, Mich., Amanda Gudorf of South Bend, Ind., Cory Cote of Tecumseh, Mich., and Luke Cannon, Glory Nighswander, Benjamin Gilson and Colbi Cousino, all of Deerfield, Mich.; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Verna Rowe of Pioneer, Ohio, Vivian Woods of Leesburg, Fla., Mary Cox of Jacksonville, Fla., Josephine Ross of Manchester, Mich., Shirley Schadewald of Tecumseh and Ruth Greenman of Adrian and two brothers, Gaylon "Dick" Furgason of Britton and John "Bill" Furgason of Blissfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harold, Gordon and Ernest Furgason.

Funeral services for Glenn will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palmyra with the Rev. Gary Leking officiating. Burial will follow in Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield. Friends may call at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, Deerfield Fire Dept. or to a charity of the donor's choice. BRITTON -- Gaylon Duane Furgason, 77, of Britton died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Herrick Manor. He was born in Tecumseh on June 7, 1927, the son of Bernard and Lila (Matthews) Furgason. On Oct. 22, 1949, he was married to Clara Fick in Adrian and she survives. Gaylon was employed at Tecumseh Products for 42 years prior to retiring. He was also engaged in farming. He enjoyed winters in Florida, camping, dancing, playing cards, golf, and spending time with his family. Gaylon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Gaylon is survived by two sons, Roger (Mary) Furgason of Britton and James (Marjorie) Furgason of Tecumseh; one daughter, Sandra (Jim) DeBerry of Orange City, Fla.; one brother, John "Bill" Furgason of Blissfield; six sisters, Verna (Walter) Rowe of Pioneer, Ohio, Vivian Woods of Leesburg, Fla., Mary (Elton) Cox of Jacksonville, Fla., Josephine (Tom) Ross of Manchester, Mich., Shirley (Stanley) Schadewald of Tecumseh and Ruth Greenman of Adrian; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Furgason of Ypsilanti and Nancy Furgason of Britton. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; his mother, Lila (Furgason) Suydam; and four brothers, Harold, Gordon, Glenn and Ernest Furgason.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Couture-Handler Funeral Homes from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Ridge Highway in Britton with Pastor James Balzer officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Tecumseh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.

LEESBURG, Fla. Vivian M. Woods, age 82, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Tecumseh, died Feb. 19, 2011, in Florida. She was born Dec. 30, 1928, in Clinton Township to Bernard L. and Lila I. (Matthews) Furgason. On Aug. 28, 1948, she married Wendell C. Woods. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1999. She had been employed by Tecumseh Products for 35 years and then by Boysville of Michigan for 11 years, retiring on Dec. 30, 1993. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, and very involved in her community, Highland Lakes. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and bingo. Vivian is survived by her brother, William "Bill" Furgason of Blissfield; four sisters, Mary (Elton) Cox of Jacksonville, Fla., Josephine Ross of Tecumseh, Shirley (Stanley) Schadewald of Tecumseh and Ruth Greenman of Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law, Deloris Furgason of Deerfield and Clara Furgason of Tecumseh; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Wendell, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Gordon, Glen, Gaylon, Harold and Ernest Furgason; and a sister, Verna Rowe. At Vivian's request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date in April at the Tecumseh Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Home, 1448 Short St, Tecumseh. BLISSFIELD - Athena G. Furgason, 50, of South Lane Street, Blissfield, died Wednesday evening at Bixby Hospital in Adrian. She was born Dec. 24, 1930 in Dearborn, to Anthony and Frances (Laflin) Caristianos. On April 21, 1951, she married John (Bill) Furgason, and he survives. Mrs. Furgason was active in women's bowling and the Blissfield Firemen's Auxiliary. She was also a school bus driver for several years at the Blissfield High School. Surviving besides her daughter, Kathy Lynn Beal; one son, Michael William Furgason, both of Blissfield; two grandchildren; her mother and step-father; Frances and Clark Toney; a brother, James Caristianos, all of Arcadia, Fla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Argyro) Krusniak of Frankenmuth and Mrs. James (Aurelia) Williams of San Jose, Calif. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield, with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield.

ADRIAN - Madeline M. (Walker) Furgason, 59 of Woodfield Drive, Adrian, formerly of Blissfield, died May 18, 1986, at her home after an extended illness. She was born in Dansville, Mich., July 23, 1926 to Forrest and Alta (Thompson) Anderson. On Aug. 4, 1946 she married Forrest "Chuck" Walker and he died in 1976. She then married John "Bill" Furgason on Oct. 31, 1981, and he survives. Mrs. Furgason had worked with the Blissfield Camp Fire Girls during the 1960s. She and her husband, Chuck Walker, owned and operated the Tastee-Freez in Blissfield from 1969-1974. She also worked for the Jipson-Carter State Bank in Blissfield and Riga, and also part-time for Gilson's Hardware in Blissfield. Survivors include her mother, Alta Anderson of Dansville, one son, Kirk Walker of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Vickie Walker of Brooklyn ad Mrs. Cynthia Sanderson of Blissfield; one stepson, Michale Furgason of Blissfield; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Kathy Lyn Dull of Adrian; six grandchildren, six sisters, Mrs. Virginia Ackley of Tustin, Barbara Anderson of Southern Pines, N.C., Mrs. Marjorie Gauss of Brooklyn, Mrs.. Nancy Hart of Dansville, Mrs. Ruth Whipple of Mason and Mrs. Christine Brown of Owosso; three brothers, Robert "Bud" Anderson, Forrest "Juke" Anderson and Donald "Pete" Anderson, all of Owosso. BLISSFIELD - Elaine Nichelson Furgason, 69, of Blissfield, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999 at her home. Born July 8, 1929, in Blissfield, Elaine was the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Leighton) Iffland. She graduated from Blissfield High School in 1947 as class valedictorian. She was married on July 30, 1948, to William Nichelson, who passed away in 1986. She was married on Aug. 8, 1987, to John William Furgason. He survives. Elaine worked as a secretary at the Blissfield Middle School, retiring in 1991, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blissfield. Surviving is her husband, Bill Furgason of Blissfield, two daughters, Loraine (Kim) Cranor of Chelsea, Mich., and Connie (Jerry) Schneider of Jerome, Mich.; one son, Matthew (Sue) Nichelson of Zeeland, Mich; a stepdaughter, Kathy Beal of Adrian; a stepson, Mike Furgason of Lambertville; two brothers, Kenneth (Pat) Iffland and Harold Iffland, both of Blissfield; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blissfield, with Pastor David Thomas officiating. Ross, Thomas Manchester, MI

Age 68, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Saline Hospital, after a seven year battle with lung cancer. He was born July 2, 1940 in Detroit, MI to Edward and Gladys (Powers) Ross. On November 16, 1957, in Manchester he married Josephine Furgason. Tom worked 20 years for Double A and retired in 1995 after 18 years of service with Ford Motor, Milan. For ten years he served on the Manchester Fire Department. In addition to his wife of 51 years he is survived by four children Patricia (Ron) Wilson, Thomas (Connie) Ross, Louie (Alisa) Ross, and Robert "Bubba" Ross; two grandsons Nicholas and Logan Ross; one sister Carol (Ron) Howdyshell. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Raymond Ross and two sisters Nancy Yungkans and Betty Bash. The family will gather with friend on Monday, January 12, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Jenter Chapel of Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Manchester. A Traditional Farewell service will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Internment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to American Cancer Society. Shirley Ann (Furgason) Schadewald, 78, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Blissfield Place.

She was born on June 29, 1941 in Tecumseh to Bernard L. & Lila I. (Matthews) Furgason. She attended Tecumseh Schools before graduating from Deerfield High School in 1959. On October 10, 1959 she was united in marriage to Stanley R. Schadewald and they celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing on December 18, 2017.

Along with being a homemaker, Shirley worked at various places including Kapnick Orchards before retiring from Peerless Gear in Clinton. She was very creative and spent a lot of her spare time painting ceramics and playing Bunco before a series of strokes took her ability away in the late 1990s. After that time, she enjoyed accompanying her husband to many classic car shows to display the many vehicles he restored including her Dodge “Little Red Express” truck.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Susan (Dale) Southard of Blissfield, Debra (Rodger) Gallaway of Deerfield, and a son, David (Tammy) Schadewald of Lima, Ohio. Brother, John W. “Bill” Furgason of Blissfield and sister, Josephine “Jody” Ross of Tecumseh. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Edward, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

Visitation hours for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield. Stanley R. Schadewald, age 78, of Tecumseh, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Adrian on July 26, 1939, the son of William and Mary (Hegy) Schadewald. On October 10, 1959, he married Shirley A. Furgason at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palmyra and she survives.

Stanley graduated from Deerfield High School with the Class of 1957. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957-1959.

He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tecumseh. Stanley had a passion for restoring classic “pickup trucks” and he worked as a farmer. In 2004 he retired from GM Powertrain in Toledo, where he was a machine repairman. Stanley was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving in addition of his wife, Shirley are two daughters, Sue (Dale) Southard of Blissfield, Debra (Rodger) Gallaway of Deerfield; a son, David (Tammy) Schadewald of Lima, OH; two brothers, Norm Schadewald of Blissfield, Charles Schadewald of Adrian; two sisters, Maybelle (Gayln) Berry of Blissfield, Donna Case of Adrian; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Edward, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Services for Stanley, will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 11 AM at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield with Pastor Philip Krieger officiating. Burial will follow in Deerfield Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday December 20, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield.
