Ira J. Carter, 87, of Spring Hill died of a respiratory ailment Monday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be in Webb Cemetery near Norwalk.
Mr. Carter was born in Creston and moved to Spring Hill in 1966 from Norwalk. He had worked for Brewbaker Farms in Spring Hill and later for Breiholz Construction Co. He was a member of the Laborers union.
Among survivors are his wife, Genevieve; two daughters, Edna Burns of Spring Hill and Cheryl Milner of Pleasantville; two sons, Clayton of Creston and Dayton of Spring Hill; a sister, Annis Jones of Murray; two brothers, Laurel of Fort Smith, Ark., and Harvey of Diagonal; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.]:CR:].
He was buried in 1995 in Webb Cemetery, Norwalk, Warren Co., IA, Find A Grave Memorial# 27027330.
