DELAVAN - Bessie Robbins, 92, of Delavan passed away at 10:04 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Delavan to Louis E. and Lena L. Pech Larimore. She married Harold "Hack" Robbins on Aug. 19, 1938, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1999.
She was also preceded by three brothers, Bud, Harold and Dan; one grandson, James Murphy; one son-in-law, Melvin Murphy; and one stepgranddaughter, Tammy Harman.
Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Murphy of Pekin and Jeanie (Joe) Farris of Tremont; two grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Habel of Pekin and Robyn (Ralph) Gargus of Mackinaw; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Alyssa and Nick Gargus of Mackinaw; one stepgreat-grandson, Patrick Harman of Oklahoma; one sister, Elizabeth Van Alstyne of Bakersfield, Calif.; and her faithful and loving caregiver, Karla Anderson of Delavan.
Mrs. Robbins worked in the Delavan school cafeteria for many years. She also did domestic housework for several Delavan families.
She was a member of Delavan United Methodist Church and the Delavan American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing pinochle, cooking and her flowers. Her greatest joy in life was her family, serving others and spending time with children. In the summertime you would see her on her swing and other times in her rocking chair by her window.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Davis Mortuary in Delavan. The Revs. Dan Larimore and Bob Burton will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.
Memorial contributions may be made to Delavan United Methodist Church Shepherd Program or to Delavan Historical Society.

Harold Richard 'Hack' Robbins was born May 7, 1918, in Cerro Gordo, son of James and Mary Brown Robbins. He married Bessie Olene Larimore on August 12, 1938, in Kahoka, MO; and later marrried Carolyn Kay 'Katie' Pomrenke January 31, 1958, in Keokuk,, Iowa.
Surviving are daughters, Marily K. (Melvin) Murphy and Jean A. (Joe) Farris; brother, Donald (Vera) Robbins; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn on July 24, 1985; a grandson, a brother and a sister.
A World War II Coast Guard veteran, he also served in the National Guard. He was a member of Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 and Delavan American Legion Post 382. He was a self-employed carpenter in the Delavan area for many years. He later worked out of Carpenters Local 644 in Pekin, where he was a member.
He served on the Delavan City Council for many years, where he also served on the Water Department Committee. He helped organize the Delavan Civil Defense.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 916 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1869. He also was a member of the Delavan Historical Society
He attended Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
