Nancy Ruth Shaffer passed away peacefully on July 2, 2015, in Oklahoma City. She was born on February 9, 1924, in Parsons, Kansas. As an only child who demonstrated substantial intelligence, Nancy was encouraged to pursue a career so that she could support herself. She attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in petroleum geology. She was employed by Gulf Oil Corporation in May of 1948 until her retirement in 1983. Nancy loved pair skating with her partner and friend, Walter Conn. A special thank-you to the staff and caregivers for their help and support at Bellevue Nursing Home and Centennial Hospice. Graveside services will be 10 am Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Rose Hill Burial Park.
