Loretta was born on April 12, 1916, in Fairfax, Minnesota, the daughter of Alois and Antonia (Frank) Kolb. She attended school in Fairfax, Minnesota. Loretta lived in Fairfax until 1937 and then moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa.

In her younger years, Loretta was a waitress and manager at Fort Hopkins Restaurant in Fort Dodge for many years.

Loretta married Roy Tallman on May 24, 1943, in Fort Dodge. The couple then moved to rural Paton, Iowa, where they worked together on the farm until 1976. They retired and moved into the town of Paton. After Roy's passing in 2001, Loretta moved to Boone, where she was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and Altar Society.

Loretta enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, playing cards, and dancing.

Loretta "Lottie" M. Tallman, age 93 of Boone, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the Hearthstone Memory Care Unit at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Madilyn M. Busch and her husband George of Boone; five grandchildren, Greg Busch (Barb) of Rockford, Iowa; Tracy Busch (Joyce) of Boone; Joe Busch (Lori) of Boone; Marty Busch (Jody) of Boone and Lori Burma (Jeff) of Boone; 12 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Her body was gifted to the University of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines. A Memorial Mass was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone. Father Steven Brodersen officiated.
