Her desire to serve the Lord and her love of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as her love of people, especially children, was a blessing and an encouragement to all who were privileged to know her. This included many children who called Ruth "Grandma" when she listened to them quote their Bible verses in the Awana Club at her church. She loved to sew and knit.
Despite the debilitating effects and pain of arthritis, she made many quilts and baby blankets.
