Note:

Parents names per Iowa marriage register.

There is an incarceration record for a John Wilkerson of Lee County, Iowa, sentenced 28 Mar 1910 for Breaking and Entering to a maximum of 10 years at the Anamosa Men's Reformatory in Jones County, Iowa. John was shown there in the 1910 Census. In the census record it shows that he was born in Kentucky about 1883. This John WIlkerson was paroled on 17 Apr 1912 and pardoned on 14 May 1913. This may be our John Joseph Wilkerson. His incoming record shows him age 26, but the April, 1910 census shows him age 27. I suspect he lied to the police and court about his age in hopes of getting leniency on the sentence. He may or may not be the same John Wilkerson listed on the 1920 census at Laramie, Wyoming.
