Earl George Vandersyde was born on 9 April 1898 in Illinois per 1900 census. SSDI shows 1899. Also, 9 MAR 1897, per California Death Index. 1898 is the best match to the ages he gave on available birth certificates for his children.1 He married Lillian Marie Vardy before 1919, The 1920 census shows his wife and eldest son were born in England, and immigrated in 1919. It would appear that he met his wife while in service with the British Army in WW I, and married there in advance of the birth of his son Arthur, born about June, 1916 in England. DLB 2018.1 He died on 2 January 1957 in Riverside Co., CA.
Earl George Vandersyde began military service WW I service, for the British Expeditionary Forces. Apparently he lied and gave his birth location as Canada, as per British records, which also say his residence was Chicago. DLB 2018.
