Hallie C. Holmes, 85, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Wellington Park. The Monroe County native was a daughter of the late William J. Wimpee and Mary Coley Wimpee. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel of Peace Tabernacle.

Survivors include two sisters: Dorothy Reece of Bowling Green and Ruby Wilson of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers: Charles Wimpee and wife Wanda and William Wimpee and wife Patsy, all of Bowling Green; five grandchildren: Rick and Royce Haynes, David Holmes, Jerry Dean Holmes and Dustin Holmes; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Holmes; a daughter: Betty Haynes; a son: James Holmes; a granddaughter: Jamie Holmes; one grandson: Cory Holmes; a sister: Clarine Woods; and two brothers: Dewey and J.B. Wimpee.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel, with burial in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
