Walter Lee Lackey passed away Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the age of 68.
Walt was born on September 24, 1936, in Lampasas, Texas, to Arthur and Leona Lackey. Walt attended school in the Bertram school district and graduated from high school in 1955. In this same year, Walt married his high school sweetheart, Rosalyn Williams, and enlisted in the Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge from the military in 1959, Walt worked a progression of odd jobs until he became employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (SWBT) in 1960. Walt worked with SWBT until his retirement in 1995. During his lengthy SWBT career, Walt worked primarily in the business office, in Public Relations and as an Austin Lobbyist. During his career, Walt maintained a near full-time second career working to better the community through organizations such as Rotary and the Chambers of Commerce. Upon retirement, Walt and Rosalyn retired on the Murray and Geneva Williams homestead in Bertram, Texas. Walt remained busy in retirement buying phones to add to his antique phone collection off of eBay, tending cattle, establishing with the Hill Country 100 Club and attending Rotary meetings.
Walt is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rosalyn Lackey; two sons, Randy Lackey and Walter Lee Lackey, Jr.; two daughters, Princess Aschermann and Terri Vordenbaum; two sons-in-law; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Marvin Lackey, and his wife, Ann of Georgetown.
The family is most appreciative to the staff at the Texas Cancer Center in Round Rock, specifically Dr. Eakin, Dr. Chyle, Dr. Kocs, Stephanie, Vicki, Kathleen and Maggie and to Seaton Hospice, specifically Patti and her staff.
The funeral service will be held at Burnet Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2005. The deceased will be at the Burnet Clement-Wilcox Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral for viewing. Interment services will be held at the Mahomet Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. For information, please call Clements-Wilcox at (512) 756-2222. Clements-Wilcox is located at 306 East Polk, Burnet, Texas 78611.
The family would like to thank the following pallbearers: Glen Bible, John Hoover, Alvin Nored, Cary Johnson, Larry Howard, Jeff Robinson, Dewey Hollingsworth and Bill Luedecke and recognize the following honorary pallbearers: Ben Lackey (recently returned from tour in Iraq), D.C. Vordenbaum, Zachary Lackey, Luke Aschermann, Dane Lackey, Marvin Lackey, Eldon Williams, Robert Noland and Manuel Hernandez.

Graveside services will be held in the Carlsbad Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday for Thelma D. Moore, 88, 503 S. Walnut St. Charles Lindsey of the Church of Christ is to officiate.
Mrs. Moore died Friday at Lakeview Christian Home, Northgate Unit. She was 88.
Born and raised in Randolph, Texas, Mrs. Moore married the late John T. Moore on Sept 23, 1939, in Roswell. They lived in Ontario, Calif., for 35 years. The Moores moved to Carlsbad in 1970. She was a member of the Fox and Lake Church of Christ.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her sister Tressie Hood of Carlsbad and four nephews.
West Funeral Home will direct services.

Born June 10, 1907 in Beattie, Commanche County, Texas, he was raised and received his education near Colorado City. Texas. He moved to Carlsbad in 1931 and went to work for P.C.A. in 1940 and worked there until 1947 when he moved to California. While in California, he was employed at a tile company for a number of years. After his retirement, he returned to make his home in Carlsbad. He was a member of the Fox and Lake Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Thelma; brothers Andy Moore of Fort Worth, Charles Moore of Newark, Del and Dan Reeves of Carlsbad; sisters Florence Bynum of Odessa, Dorothy Bass, Ruby Ives, Margaret Harvey and Adeline Morrow, Carlsbad and Lena Hunt of Turlock, Calif.
