FLORENCE, April 2 (CTS) --
Mrs. Marzee Kirk, 91, died at Elk City, Oklahoma April 1 following an extended illness.
Mrs. Kirk was a former resident of Florence, moving away in 1935.
She had lived in Elk City ten years.
Survivors include one son, R. E. Kirk of El Campo; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hand of Dallas, Mrs. M. L. Williams of Elk City and Mrs. A. Lee Lackey of Austin; two brothers, A. O. Hood and Millo Hood, both of Georgetown; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Lewellen of Skidmore, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ in Florence with John McClisa of Austin officiating, assisted by Frank Downes, minister.
Burial will be in Florence cemetery, under the direction of Young Funeral Home.

DIES IN HOSPITAL
T.O. (Dad) Hood, 81, of 303 South Maple, a resident of the Carlsbad area for 26 years and a familiar figure on his bicycle died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital. He had been hospitalized since Monday noon, when he was stricken with a heart attack in the Southern Union Gas Company office.
Born near Little Rock, Ark., he married Lizzie Valentine in 1901 at Randolph, Fannin County, Tex.
They came to this area in 1924. He farmed near Loving for several years, then in 1928 and 1929 was a guide at Carlsbad Caverns and was employed in construction work there. In 1930, the family moved to Carlsbad, and he worked for the city for about five years. He later was custodian at the high school.
In recent years, with a basket, he made rounds in the downtown district and sold candy and gum. Traveling on his bicycle, he was struck by automobiles a number of times, but never suffered more injury than a scratched hand or arm.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Tresie Hood, Carlsbad, and Mrs. Thelma Moore, Ontario, Calif.; three sons, Ray, Leslie, and John, all of Carlsbad; three sisters, Mrs Marzie Kirk of Texas; Mrs. Bertha Lewallen, Fort Worth, and Mrs. Mary Wilson, Florence, Tex.; three brothers, Milo, Arbie, and Dallas, all of Texas, and four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending at West Funeral Home.

Marjorie Ann Smith was born in Stamford, Texas, March 28, 1928 and passed from this world to the world eternal at Memorial Medical Center on December 20, 2006 after a short illness. Her parents Mr. J.B. Smith and Mrs. Clariss H. Smith relocated to lower Rio Grand Valley of Texas while she was a small child. She graduated from La Feria High School in 1945, graduated with BBA degree from Texas A & I University in 1948 and married Edward O. Noble in 1948. The lived in Pharr, Texas from 1948 to 1952, while both taught in the PSJA Public School System.
In July 1952, Marge and Ed moved to Las Cruces, NM where she became a full time wife and mother, while Ed worked at White Sands Missile Range. In 1964, the couple moved to the Wildwood in Mesilla Park and remained there during the remainder of her life.
