Prominent Clark County farmer and livestock buyer Homer McDorman, 51, of
South Charleston died in University Hospital, Columbus, about midnight
Friday. Mr. McDorman was stricken earlier in the week and had been
undergoing treatment in the hospital's intensive care section. He was moved
to a private room shortly before his death. Details of his illness have not
been disclosed but an autopsy was performed. A spokesman for the hospital
stated no official finds have been determined. Mr. McDorman was active in
Clark County politics, had served for several terms of the southeastern
Local Board of Education and the Clark County Board of Education. Only
recently he was named by M.K. Baach to serve as his campaign manager. Mr.
Baach; currently president of City Commission, is the Democratic candidate
for representative from Clark County to the Ohio General Assembly. Mr.
McDorman was a member of the Farm Bureau, the London Country Club, and was a
past director of the Boy Scouts of America Council. He also held Masonic
affiliations in South Charleston. Two years ago he made an unsuccessful race
to serve as district member of the State Board of Education. A graduate of
Selma High School, Mr. McDorman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from
Earlham College, Richard, Ind., and attended Law School at the University of
Cincinnati. He was a birthright member of the Society of Friends (Quaker)
and was a member of the Green Plains - Monthly Meeting. He actively
supported the Friends Service Committee and worked as an advisor with
various young people's groups in the church. Mr. McDorman was also a noted
trap shooter. Surviving are his widow, the former Joann Carr of South
Charleston; two sons, Larry, with the Marine Corps in the Mediterranean when
his father was stricken and David who was serving with the Marines on
Okinawa; a brother James of Selma; three sisters; Mrs. Ralph C. (Miriam)
Cooley of Houston, Tex., Miss Emilou McDorman of Santé Fe, NM, and Mrs.
James (Janyce) Mitchell of Albuquerque, NM and eight nieces and nephews.
The body was removed to Schlechty-Fichner Funeral Home in London.

Clark Walter Carr, 64, of 518 Gibbs Ave., Washington C. H., Ohio, died 12:45 P.M. Thursday, May 27, 1993, in the Chillicothe VA Hospital. He was born September 7, 1928, in Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, the son of Albert Henry Carr and Hazel Irene Seeley Carr. He was the husband of Catherine Suttles Carr, who survives. He had a prior marriage to Amy Blanche McKibben May 21, 1973, in Highland Co., Ohio. They divorced September 17, 1974, in Highland Co., Ohio. Mr. Carr was the retired owner and operator of Carr's Garage, Grace Street, Washington C. H., Ohio. The funeral will be 3:30 P.M. Saturday in the Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
