The body of Charles Theodore Bair, 79, of New Windsor, Route 2, was found about 5 p.m. in the mill, located on the farm of Carville Lee Alexander along the Sam's Creek Road. The location is just west of the Carroll County Line, west of the New Windsor area.

The tragic discovery was made by Alexander, the dead man's employer for many years. Residents of the locality said Bair had lived and worked in that vicinity for nearly a half-century.

Motive unknown

State Police were notified about 6 p.m.

State Police said he had taken certain steps Tuesday to put his personal affairs in order prior to taking his life. The investigation was by Trooper R. E. Alderson assisted by trooper Jackie Forsythe.

Reason for the act was not immediately known.

Born in Frederick County, the dead man was a son of the late George E. and Annie Riggle Bair. His wife, Grace Franklin Bair, preceded him in death in 1946.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Daisy Condon of Mt. Airy, and several nieces and nephews.

The body is at the New Windsor Funeral Home of D. D. Hartzler & Sons where services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Charles Muradian, pastor of the Taylorsville and Winfield Methodist churches, will officiate. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery at Winfield.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening.

He was buried in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Winfield, Carroll Co., MD, Findagrave #98908660.
