Charles “Charlie” Lane Hauser, 78, of Masonville, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. He was born on June 22, 1937, the son of Milt and Ruth (Smith) Hauser in Waterloo. Charlie moved to Manchester and graduated from West Delaware High School in 1955. He served in the Air Force from 1955-1959 during this time he spent time in Korea, the Philippines, and Taipei. Upon returning home he joined his parents in operating Hausers Water Systems.

Charlie was united in marriage to Connie (Ossenkop) O'Brien and they had three children. They later divorced. He then married Mollie Culver in 2000. Charlie was involved in many different organizations including the Manchester City Council, National Water Quality Assoc., past President of the Iowa Water Quality Assoc., and Lions Club.

Charlie loved spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He made sure to attend the early morning coffee meetings in town with good friends to discuss the latest news. Charlie loved to tell a good joke! He was always upbeat and even when he was very ill, if you asked him how he was doing he would answer, “Great”.

Survivors include his wife, Mollie of Masonville; two sons, Sean and Debra (Elliot) Hauser, Chad and Mindy (Burkle) Hauser, all of Manchester; one daughter, Sara (Hauser) and John Giguere of California; stepsons, Rodney Culver and special friend Kristi and Brian Culver, all from Marion; one brother, Roy Hauser of Clarksville; grandchildren, Kara and Ryan Hauser, Gabby Giguere, Ava and Cash Hauser, and Brooke and Derek Culver; many sisters-and-brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Donna Poehnelt Kaiser for all your help and friendship.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister, Ruth.



Charles Lane Hauser began military service between 1955 and 1959 U.S. Air Force service.
