Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):

ELLEN PEEBLER 1944 - 2011 Artist and gallerist Ellen Peebler's love affair with Santa Fe began during a winter visit to the city in 1974. Fifteen years later, she closed her southern California graphic design studio and claimed Northern New Mexico as her home, declaring the indigenous peoples and cultures of the American Southwest her muse. Although the region's unique natural light was a guiding force in her accomplished work as a painter, ceramist and stone carver, Ellen was forever drawn to the beach and the vast expanse of the ocean. Ellen and beloved longtime partner Jo Ann Reinhardt further enriched Santa Fe's artistic landscape through the opening of Gallery 822 on Canyon Road. "Look in the mirror," Ellen once wrote. "If there are questions you must ask, do not let your human sorrows speak back through a mask." Ellen wore no mask during her courageous battle with cancer, and although the world leaves time for sorrow in her passing, Ellen's partner, friends and loved ones celebrate her life, and honor the inextinguishable light she has added to theirs. Jo Ann Reinhardt invites friends and family to gather and remember Ellen at Gallery 822, 822 Canyon Road, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Biography

Lillian Betty Peebler was born on 2 November 1924 in Glendale, Los Angeles Co., CA. She died on 3 January 2016 in Mountain View, Stone Co., AR,

Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):

Lillian Betty (Peebler) Mitchell, known to her friends and family as Betty – and to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren (and many others in the community) as “Granny Goose”, passed from this life on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Stone County Medical Center at the age of 91.

Born November 2, 1924 in Glendale, California, to parents Byron and Ethel Peebler she married Stone County native Alvy Mitchell who had gone to California to find work. Her parents had run a laundry in Indio for several years and Betty and Alvy opened a laundry business in their home shortly after becoming married. They moved back to Stone County in the mid-q960s. She gave birth to four children – Steve, Nancy, Joyce and Cathy. After her divorce from Alvy in 1982, she began accumulating rental property in and around Mountain View. At one time or other, probably most everyone in town has rented a house or storage unit from her.

B%tty was well known in the community and was referred to by many as the “hardest working woman I’ve ever seen”. Until her recent illness took its toll on her health, she could be seen around town mowing the lawn at one of her properties or climbing onto the roof of one of her houses to make needed repairs. It seemed that there was nothing that she couldn’t do, or at least attempt, all through her 80s and was very active even into her 90s. She refused to retire, stating that she would when she got old enough. Her motto was, “Don’t worry, be happy” and for many years the personalized tag on her vehicle read “RUHAPPY”. She often encouraged her family to “keep smiling”.

She leaves behind a loving family of four children, Steve Mitchell, Nancy Decker and husband Hinkle, Joyce Wait and husband Jim, and Cathy McCarn and husband Jim. She had 14 grand-children and 33 great-grandchildren. Her long-time assistant Jerry Partee had helped her with the repair and maintenance of man9 houses through the years and was like a member of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents Byron and Ethel Peebler, grand-daughter Tracy Cheyanne (Mitchell) LaValle, sisters Helen, Lena, Frances and Melba and brothers Gerald and Ned Peebler.

Visitation will be at Roller - Crouch Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM and graveside services will follow at Flatwoods Cemetery at 2:00PM.

She was buried in January 2016 in Flatwoods Cemetery, Mountain View, Stone Co., AR, Findagrave #156727452.
