Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):

Wm. McClure Dies After Short Illness

William McClure died at his home in Blue Hill last Thursday evening after an illness of only two days. Previous to Tuesday morning he was apparently in good health, but suffered a stroke of apoplexy, from which he could not recover. While not one of the earliest settlers, Mr. McClure was the oldest resident of the village.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Blue Hill M.E. church, with the pastor, Rev. R.H. Carr in charge, assisted by J.A. Leming. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Griffith, Mrs. Ed Schwentker and L.A. Heath, sang accompanied by Miss Arlyne Schwentker at the piano. Six nephews acted as pallbearers. They were Clark McClure, Hugh McClure, and Fred McClure of Kearney; John McClure of Alexandria; Thomas McClure of Hansen, and Ed McClure of Lawrence. Burial was in the Blue Hill Cemetery.

William Montgomery McClure, son of James McClure and Eliza Montgomery, was born in Ballymena, County Antrim, Ireland, on August 15, 1848, and died at his home in Blue Hill on November 3, 1938, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 18 days.

At the age of 19 he came to America. His parents and three brothers came later and all lived at Dansville, New York until 1876, when they migrated farther west to McLean county, Illinois

He was married to Lida Rose Heagler at Bloomington, Illinois, on December 26, 1878. To this union three children were born, James of Blue Hill, Charles of Colorado Springs, Colo., and one son died in infancy. They came to the Blue Hill community in 1884 and resided on the farm 3 miles west of town. Mrs. McClure died on June 2, 1890.

On April 22, 1891, he married Henrietta McDonald of Roseland. To this second union one son, Donald was born. He preceded his father in death on September 24, 1934. The deceased is survived by his devoted wife and the two sons above mentioned, three grandsons, five granddaughters and three great granddaughters, other relatives and a host of loyal neighbors and friends whose friendship he prized greatly.

Mr. McClure was baptized and entered into the Presbyterian faith in early childhood in his native land. He later was a member of the Presbyterian church at Dansville, New York and after moving to Blue Hill, was a trustee of the local Presbyterian church until the time of dissolution several years ago. He was the type of individual who as a pioneer settler brought from the east that high type of citizenship that has helped to mound our communities as to the religious and educational advantages we enjoy today. His friendship was prized by those who knew him even as he prized his friends.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral are Mr. and Mrs. Victor McClure of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Johnson and daughter Marno of Benkleman; Mr. and Mrs. Fred McClure of Riverdale; Mr. and Mrs. Clark McClure, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McClure and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Snowden of Kearney; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. McClure of Doniphan; Mr. and Mrs. John McClure of Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Zimmerman of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Ed McClure and son of Lawrence; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith of Red Cloud; Mrs. Anna McClure and daughter, June of Milligan.

Biography

Mary Josephine Tobin was born in November 1884 in Webster Co., NE, 1900 census lists her birth year as 1885, however there are two items indicating that it was actually 1884: (a) her father died in APR 1884, and (b) the JUN 1885 Nebraska state census of Webster and Wheeler Counties lists her as 6/12 in age, which is a good match to a NOV 1884 birth date.1 She married Charles Wirt McClure, son of William Montgomery McClure and Lida Rose Heagler, on 8 March 1905 in Bladen, Webster Co., NE.
