MAZUR, ANN MARIE, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in Annapolis, MD. Born in Battle Creek, Michigan on December 11, 1946, beloved daughter of the late Arlo Duane Auten and Patricia Louise Fox, Ann spent her childhood in Athens, Michigan where she graduated valedictorian of the Athens High School Senior class in 1965. She then graduated with an engineering degree from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. After marrying the love of her life and relocating to Maryland, in 1968, she devoted her life to her family, the Anne Arundel County Public School System and to her community. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Mazur is survived by her husband, Wilfred Mazur Jr.; her two daughters Danielle Williams of Frederick, MD; and Stephanie Mazur of Crownsville, MD; her son Wilfred Mazur III also of Crownsville, MD; two sisters, Carolyn Howes of Grand Haven, Michigan and Suellen Schobert of Saginaw, Michigan; her three grandchildren, Emily and Tristan Williams and David McCorkle. A Remembrance Tribute will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Patuxent Greens Golf Club, 14415 Greenview Dr, Laurel, MD 20708. John W. Schier, 85, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. John was born on March 2, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Hans J. and Marie (Lotz) Schier. On January 8, 1951 he enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged on January 7, 1955. He received the following awards and commendations: the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On January 15, 1955 he married Jeanne (Fox) Schier at the Athens Congregrationsal Church. John graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS degree in hydraulic engineering. He was a hydraulic engineer at Hydreco from 1955 until his retirement in 1980. During their lives they always looked forward to their time on the "Mon Ami" (My Friend), their boat. They shared many memorable excursions in Grand Haven, Michigan, at North Shore Marina. John also enjoyed raising horses and his time with the Mounted Division of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John lost his father in 1983 and his mother in 1990, his only sister, Carol (Schier) Goodale on October 1, 2011, his loving wife, Jeanne on July 9, 2009, and two daughters, Jonienne on May 30, 1970 and Jacqueline (Schier) Burt on April 22, 1999. He is survivied by his daughter Janet Casselman of Battle Creek and three grandchildren: John Burt of Athens, Shelly Burt of Athens and Bryce Casselman of Battle Creek. John is also survivied by two special nieces, Christine (Jeffrey) Welch of Ann Arbor, MI and Atty. Nancy and (Joseph) Skocelas of Plainwell, MI.
Private family services will be held at Spencer Family Funeral Home and John will be laid to rest near his loving wife and daughters at Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens, MI. In John's honor, memorial contributions may be made to Athens Historical Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spencer Family Funeral Home, Athens.
He was buried in June 2015 in Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens, Calhoun Co., MI, per obituary.
