SUSIE LYONS
Susie Lyons, 96, died of heart failure Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Rolling Green Village Care Center, Nevada. Funeral services are Friday, Jan. 13, at 10:30 a.m., at the Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brad Braley officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
Susie Berry was born Dec. 29, 1892, to Isaac and Ellen (Smith) Berry. She was a homemaker and also was employed outside the home cleaning other homes. She lived her lifetime in Nevada and attended the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two children, Carolyn McDorman of Salem and Worley Hardesty; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1959, two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation is Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the the funeral home.
-------------------------------------------
Note: If Carolyn (Brown) (Gilson) McDorman (1915 - 1998) was in fact the biological daughter of Susie Berry, then she must have been given up as an infant for adoption by Howard and Lidde (Mills) Brown. She was listed as the Brown's daughter on the 1920 census, and listed their names as her parents on her marriage record.
Based on Susie's history with the gentlemen, the identity of Carolyn's biological father is not at all obvious -- he could have been Worley Hardesty or someone else.
Moreover, Carolyn's birth date of 14 JAN 1915 is in conflict with Worley M. Hardesty Jr.'s birth date of 21 NOV 1915, regarding the possibility that they both had the same mother. Unless there was an error in entering one of these dates into the SS records, they both cannot have been Susie Berry's children.
