Obituary -- The Wichita Eagle, Wichita, Kansas, Wednesday, 30 JAN 2013; p.B2 (Newspapers.com):
Fox, Clee (Clee Ann DeVoss), wife, mother, and extraordinary human being, was born in the family home in Cullison, KS on August 27, 1938. She passed away Sunday evening, January 27, 2013 in hospice care at Comfort Care Homes' Broadmoor facility, Wichita, KS at the age of 74. She grew up in Pratt, KS, the second of five children of Dwight and Dorothy DeVoss. Even before finishing high school, Clee showed her aptitude for accounting by doing the bookkeeping for the three service stations owned and operated by her family, skills that would serve her well, later in life. Local citizens used to stop by the service stations just to watch her operate the Burroughs 104-key calculator at lightning speed, with no errors. While attending Kansas University, Clee met and married Iranian student Parviz Mohagheghpour. She graduated in 1961 with honors, and a bachelor's degree in education. By this time she had two little daughters, Parvin and Shirine. In 1964 she and her daughters moved to Tehran, Iran with her husband's parents while her husband continued his education in the states. By the end of the 1960s, cultural differences had taken their toll, and the marriage ended. However, Clee was still in Iran and had a good job teaching the Shah's Air Force cadets English as a second language. In 1972, Clee met Carl Fox, a Honeywell field engineer from Phoenix, AZ. Following their marriage in December, 1973, there ensued a 38-year period of great productivity, overseas assignments, and travel to over 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Clee and Carl worked and lived in Iran, Holland, Germany, and China. In Germany, Clee used her accounting skills to work her way up to General Manager of the Headquarters of the United States European Command Audio Photo Club with over 40 employees. When she took over this assignment, the club had over one million dollars in excess inventory, and was deeply in debt. Within two years, Clee turned the club around, ending up with all debts paid and more than $300,000 in the Army Central Investment Fund. She made it look easy. Her employees loved her, and when she left, the club was operating at a profit. Just this one example shows the kind of wonderful and accomplished person that Clee was. Words that describe Clee: smart, attactive, articulate, gregarious, friendly, great sense of humor, generous, and most of all, loving. Clee was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Dorothy, and one brother, Dwight Theodore (Ted) DeVoss, all of Pratt, KS. Survivors include her husband, Carl Fox of Wichita, brothers Phillip DeVoss of Wichita and Roger DeVoss of Dodge City, sister Vickie DeVoss of Pratt, daughters Parvin Belknap of Aliquippa, PA and Shirine Mohagheghpour of Islamabad, Pakistan, step-sons Curtis Fox of Fort Smith, AR and Todd Fox of Tinley Park, IL, four grandchildren, Sophie and Alexa Gavin and Erin and Wiley Belknap, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The service for our beloved Clee is to be held at Downing and Lahey Mortuary, 10515 W. Maple, on Friday, Feb. 1, at 1:00 PM. Private burial will be at the Sunset Cemetery, Cullison, KS. Both services will be under the direction of long time family friend and minister Mary Jo Lundy of Santa Fe, NM. Clee was a loving person and I feel lucky to have had her as my beloved wife and best friend for 39 years. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
