World War 1, transferred from Troop I, 1st NY Cavalry to Battery A, 3rd Field Artillery, July 1917. Attended OTC at Ft. Niagara, NY and commissioned , Captain, November 27, 1917. Assigned to the 101st Field Artillery then to the Field Artillery Replacement Units at Camp Jackson, SC and Fort Sill, OK. Discharged from the service December 20, 1918.
