Alan R. Beaver, Sr., of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care July 3, 2012. He would have celebrated 30 years of marriage on October 21, 2012, with his loving wife, Kathy A. (Butt) Beaver.
Born July 26, 1951, in Hanover, he was the son of Robert N. Beaver and Janice Beaver of New Oxford, and Shirley (Forney) Mickley of Hanover.
Alan was a 1970 graduate of Hanover High School where he played on the varsity basketball team.
He was a Petty Officer in the United States Navy and served his country proudly until he was injured in 1974.
Alan was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Hanover. He was very active in various wheelchair sports as well as hunting. Alan also enjoyed visiting various nursing homes and spending time with the residents. His greatest pride and enjoyment came from his family and his relationship with his Lord.
In addition to his parents and wife, Alan is survived by his children, Yvonne M. Leonard and husband, Mike, Jr. of Hanover, and their children, Joshua and Alan Michael Leonard, Alan R. Beaver, Jr. and wife, Claudia of Chester, VA, and their daughter, Samira Beaver, Joanie B. Altland and husband, Sean of New Oxford, and their children, Wyatt and Jordyn Altland, Kyle A. Beaver and wife, Donita of Thomasville, and their children, Kiyoshi and Keira Beaver and their siblings, grandchildren to be, Keanu Asher and Kailani Rain, Emily N. Beaver of Hanover and her children, Nathan and Kaleb Lambert; his sister, Sandra Garland and husband, John of Hanover; stepsister, Chris Hahn and husband, Steve of Glassboro, NJ; step brothers, Randy Beaver and wife, Diane of Spring Grove, and Wayne Beaver and wife, Pam of Gettysburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Chloe, Nikki, Trucker, and Miss Kitty.
A service to celebrate and remember Alan's life will be held 10 a.m., July 7, 2012, at Bethel Assembly of God, Littlestown. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. Full military honors will be provided by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
He was buried in July 2012 in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Gettysburg, Adams Co., PA, Findagrave #93097727.
