--James Walter Trickett, son of Mrs. Alberta McGee Trickett and the late Harman Trickett, died very suddenly while at work on Nov. 13. He was born Sept. 16, 1896. He married Pearl Rogers on Oct. 27, 1917. To this union were born seven children. Surviving are the widow, the following children; Charles and Robert Trickett of Reedsville, Alberta Lyons of Independence, David Trickett of Gladesville, Hazel and Margaret of Morgantown, Ralph Trickett, at home; brothers, John of Wheeling, Crayton and Russell of Uffington, Judson of Reedsville; sisters, Mary Trickett of Zanesville, Mae Reese of Indiana, Blanche Hutchinson of Washington, D.C., Inez McGannigal of Bridgeport, Nell Marple of Columbus, Grace Foster and Geneva Mathew, of Uffington; one sister preceded him in death.

Charles "Bud" Trickett, 66, of Reedsville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Gladesville on June 6, 1944, a son of the late Charles J. and Bethel Born Trickett.

He was a loving father and grandfather. He retired from Pepsi-Cola in Wintersville, OH, with over 25 years of service. He attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gladesville. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching western movies.

At the time of his death, he was survived by one daughter, Rebecca "Mugsy" Burgess, of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Daniel Trickett, of Arthurdale, and Matthew Trickett, of Marysville, OH; one sister, Frances Trickett, of Arthurdale; and five grandchildren, Victoria Trickett, Devon Anderson, Jacob Trickett, Dylan Trickett and Aaron Trickett.

Interment was at the Gladesville Cemetery with the Rev. Marty Turner officiating.

Mildred Garnette Riley McBee, 97 of Kingwood died Monday, July 4, 2011 at her home.

She was born July 7, 1913, in Gladesville, a daughter of the late William A. and Ruth N. Rogers Greathouse.

Mrs. McBee served as a clerk in the Preston County Assessor's Office and also worked for the Kingwood Water Works. She was a member of the Kingwood Baptist Church for many years. She lived in Manown for 73 years and always considered herself a farmer.

She was survived by three sons, Willis Roscoe Riley and his wife, Joy of Mashpee, MA, William Melvin Riley, and Kenneth Paul Riley and his fiancée, Barbara Dawson, all of Oakland, MD; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Willis Roscoe Riley, Sr. and Brady McBee and a grandson, Anthony Shawn Riley.

Friends called at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood from 5 –8 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2011. On Wednesday, July 6, 2011 Mrs. McBee was moved to the Kingwood Baptist Church, 201 Jackson Street, Kingwood to lie in repose from 10-11 AM the funeral hour with Pastor Kevin Sions officiating. Interment followed in the Gordon Cemetery.

Willis Roscoe Riley, Sr. passed away suddenly on November 5, 1943 at his home. Death was unexpected and attributed to a heart attack.

He was born in 1905 near Reedsville, Preston County, a son of Charles and Nellie (Turner) Riley. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Garnette Greathouse Riley, and three sons, Willis Roscoe, Jr., age 12, William Melvin, age 10, and Kenneth Paul, age 7.

Mr. Riley worked for the Board of Education for the past 10 years, serving as a finance clerk and the county director of attendance. Prior to that, he taught for 12 years in the schools of Preston County.

He was a member of the Gladesville Baptist Church from 1931-1942, when he transferred his membership to the Kingwood Baptist Church. There, he served as the Sunday School Superintendent for a period of time.

Mr. Riley was a graduate of Masontown High School and Fairmont State Teachers College and was working toward a Master's Degree from WVU. He was a member of the K. of P. Lodge of Kingwood and served on the Board of Directors of the Kingwood Building and Loan Association.

In addition to his wife and sons, he was survived by his mother, Mrs. Nellie Riley of Reedsville; and brothers and sisters: Mrs. Maggie Metheny of Albright; Mrs. Herbert Zinn of Houston, PA; Mrs. Ruby Thompson of Niagara Falls, NY; and Ressie Riley and Guy Riley of Reedsville.

He was a loving husband and father to his family, and he will be remembered by all of his relatives, co-workers, and friends as a hard worker and one who made a lasting contribution to the school children of Preston County.

Funeral services were held in the Kingwood Baptist Church on Monday afternoon, November 8, with Reverend Hall and Reverend Higginbotham officiating. Interment followed in the Gordon Cemetery.
