EMILY KATHERINE ADAMO
After a courageous two year battle with cancer, Miss Emily Katherine Adamo, age 18, went to be with her Savior on January 2, 2009. Emily was a talented artist and an avid reader, and loved animals of all kinds. Her quiet, gentle spirit and quick wit attracted many friends. Before her illness, Emily was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church and an honors student at South Jones High School. Emily was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, J. M. Walters, and her paternal grandparents, Verelle Black and Emile Goza Black. Until we join her in heaven, Emily will be missed by her parents, Johnny and Marcia Adamo; brothers John Matthew Adamo and Andrew Verelle Adamo; grandmother, Mrs. Juanice Walters; her loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a multitude of dear friends. She will also be missed by her beloved yorkie, Bella, who comforted her during her long confinement.
A memorial service, conducted by Dr. Jon Stubblefield, was held on January 6 at Main STreet Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. Music was provided by Joseph Robinson and Barbara Stephenson. Pallbearers were her uncle, Greg Chancellor of Petal, and cousins: Newton Farmer of Houston, TX; Francis and Austin Farmer of Hattiesburg; and Jason and Scott Holloway of Mobile, AL. Burial was in the Ellisville Cemetery.
Many individuals, churches, businesses and organizations reached out to our family during Emily's illness with words of comfort and acts of kindness. Emily knew that she was dearly loved and the recipient of countless prayers. Words cannot adequately express the appreciation we feel toward all those who faithfully supported Emily and us through this difficult time. We do not yet fully understand God's plan, we are thankful that He was glorified through Emily's life and that we were allowed to be her family. She is our beloved hero.
Johnny, Marcia, Matthew and Andrew Adamo.
