Obituary -- The Akron Beacon Journal, Akron, Ohio; Tuesday, 3 FEB 2015, p.B005 (Newspapers.com):

Carol L. Zaveson

Carol L. Zaveson, 70, of North Canton, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015, after a short battle with cancer, at The Laurels of Canton, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 28, 1944 in Akron and was the daughter of the late Helen (Totura) Zaveson and the late Milan E. Zaveson of Akron. She was a 1962 graduate fo Garfield High School. Shortly after graduating she received an Olympic bronze medal for rail gliding and then went on to be one of the most consulted nuclear physicists in the North East Ohio region. After retiring, she took a trip to Paris to pursue her dream of dancing. Too bad that was a bunch of cockamamie. As you can tell, she had the most amazing sense of humor and a passion for making people laugh. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother (Granny Carlos), sister, and friend to many over her short journey in this world. She is now in the loving arms of our creator and the love of her life, Jack.

She is survived by her daughters, Lara P. Artymovich (Jerry) of Massillon, and Alicia L. Jenei (Donny) of Green; and her grandchildren, Adam J. Artymovich of Celebration, Florida, Victoria A. Jenei of Green, and Brooke M. Walsh of Massillon; and her siblings, Milene Arbaugh of Columbus and Patrice Zaveson of Akron. Also surviving are her special friends, Pat George of Canton and Susan Moye of Akron.

Per her wishes, the family had a small private gathering to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either the Stark County Humane Society or the Amputee Coalition.

"If you cannot but weep when your soul summons you to prayer, she should spur you again and yet again, through weeping, until you shall come laughing." --Kahlil Gibran.
