NEW YORK, Oct 13 (AP) -- Navy Capt. John Charles Fremont, 77, veteran of three wars and grandson of Gen. John C. Fremont, 19th century military hero and explorer, died today at the Naval Hospital, St. Albans, Queens.
Fremont, who served aboard the U.S.S. St. Louis during the Spanish-American War, was the son of Rear Adm. John C. Fremont, onetime Naval attache in Paris and St. Petersburg, Russia.
During World War I, Fremont commanded a flotilla of destroyers in Irish waters and received the Navy Cross. Recalled to duty during World War II, Fremont was supervisor of the Third Naval District, New York City.
He was buried in October 1957 in Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, Rockland Co., NY, Findagrave #169005413.
