Mrs. Patricia Smith Bumgardner, age 60, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at her home in Charlotte. Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Hankins and Whittington, Dilworth Chapel with Dr. Charles Page officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. There will be a private interment at Sharon Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bumgardner, a Charlotte native, was born January 14, 1940, the daughter of the late John I. Smith and Y. Z. Blocker Smith of Lenoir, NC. She worked for Eastern Airlines for 24 years and retired after six years with the Mecklenburg Department of Social Services.
In addition to her husband, Carrol "Bud" W. Bumgardner, Jr., Mrs. Bumgardner is survived by her two daughters, Melinda C. Bumgardner and Amanda M. Bumgardner, both of Charlotte, three brothers, Richard N. Smith of N. Wilkesboro, NC, John I. Smith, Jr. of Fayetteville, GA and Stephen A. Smith of Hillsboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
Arrangements are in the care of Hankins and Whittington, Dilworth Chapel, 1111 East Blvd.
She was buried in July 2000 in Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC, Findagrave #75101899.

Josephine Murrah, 77, of Louisville, formerly of Taylor County, died at 8:57 a.m., Monday, August 26, at the Parkway Medical Center in Louisville after an illness. She was a member of the Crescent Hill United Methodist Church. She retired from the A & P Stores after serving many years in the office staff. She united in marriage to Shelby R. Murrah. He preceded her in death March 2, 1972. She is survived by one brother and two sisters: Ira Smith of Campbellsville, Mrs. Lonnie Huffman of Shelbyville, Ky., and Mrs. Laura Clark of Anchorage, Ky.; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, John I. Smith. Funeral was at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. Thomas Reed. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Smith, Gary Smith, Harold Clark, Gary Clark, George Mitchell and Morris Horn.

Mr. Shelby Murrah, 64, of 201 Hillcrest Avenue in Louisville, formerly of the Elkhorn community in Taylor County, son of the late Mr. William Dryden Murrah and Mrs. Amanda Susan Rice Murrah, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, May 21, 1907. He died at 11:15 p.m., Thursday, March 2nd [1972] at the St. Anthony Hospital in Louisville. He had been a patient there for the past two days.
He professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Elkhorn United Methodist Church.
He united in marriage to Miss Josie Smith, December 14, 1929.
Besides his wife, he is also survived by one sister: Mrs. W. C. Mitchell; one niece and one nephew, Mrs. Jane Horn and Mr. George Mitchell.

88, passed away June 13 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home.
He was an Army veteran, had retired from American Builders Supply, and later in life had driven a school bus for Christian Academy. He loved flying airplanes, bluegrass music and planting flowers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Elizabeth (Hall) Clark; sister, Jewell Stone, and brother, Floyd.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Joe) Brooks; grandson, Noah Ramsey; great granddaughter, Destiny Ramsey; brothers, Adrian of Toney, AL, Douglas of McDaniels, KY, Gary (Carolyn) of Pleasureville, KY; sisters, Loraine Cash of Crestwood, KY, Arlene (Carroll) Tschetter of Huron, SD, and Gail Ostergard of Newland, NC.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Friday at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood, and Saturday 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
