Lonnie Gene Weinrich, 60, of Wakefield, NE died on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Funeral services for Lonnie will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wakefield Evangelical Church in Wakefield, NE; Pastor Jill Craig will be officiating. The visitation will be at the church on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Lonnie was born on December 28, 1961, in Plainview, NE, the son of Gene and Sarah (Wellman) Weinrich. After graduating in 1980 from Plainview High School, he attended Northeast Technical College in Norfolk. Lonnie earned his associate degree in automotive technology. He worked as a motorcycle mechanic for a year, before moving to Wayne, NE, where he worked at Pflueger's Feed Yard. He then moved to Pierce and worked for Coca-Cola, where he worked in deliveries and sales and delivered mailed in the evenings for US Postal. Lonnie then returned to Pflueger's Feed Yard in 2001, working there for several years before moving to Nichols Feed Yard, and most recently, the Dixon Feed Yard.

He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, raising livestock, and spoiling his grandchildren. You could always find Lonnie cheering on his children when they were younger at any school event or cattle show. He most recently was cheering on his oldest grandchild Cameron at Hockey and Football. He volunteered for many years at the Wayne County Fair, helping run the cattle show. Most of all he loved all three of his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Sarah Weinrich, his grandparents and close friends Roger Jensen and Terry Pflueger.



He was buried in January 2022 in Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Cemetery, Wakefield, Dixon Co., NE, Findagrave #235994631.
