Charles Reifsnider
Word has been received here of the death of Mr. Charles Reifsnider at his home in Tiffin, Ohio. He was well known here, where he resided for a long time and was connected with the Elizabeth Reifsnider mill at Linganore. Mr. Reifsnider was about 60 years of age.
Besides his wife he leaves three children, Mrs. Elizabeth Daugherty, of Tiffin, Ohio, Mr. John Reifsnider, a missonary (sic) in Japan, and Mrs. Charles Reifsnider, a teacher in the Episcopal church in Japan.
The body will be brought to Frederick and will arrive here over the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Services will be held in the Mt. Olivet chapel and interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining.
He was buried in October 1915 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Frederick Co., MD, Findagrave #27424472.

Rev. Charles Reifsnider Succumbs in Pasadena
A long career of service to Christianity in Japan was ended Sunday with the death in Pasadena of the Right Rev. Charles Shriver Reifsnider.
Dr. Reifsnider, who lived at 2333 Paloma St., Pasadena, was born in Frederick, Md., Nov. 27, 1875. He was a student at Heidelberg University in Germany from 1894 to 1896.
He was married to Mary Duke Gordon in 1904 and was made a deacon in the Protestant Episcopal Church in 1900. He became a priest of the church in 1901 and was consecrated Bishop of the North Tokyo (Japan) church at a ceremony in All-Saints Episcopal Church, Pasadena, in 1924.
Headed University
He was president of St. Paul University in Tokyo from 1912 to 1941; director of St. Luke’s Hospital, Tokyo, from 1935 to 1941, and president of st. Margaret’s College of Tokyo from 1935 to 1941.
He was Suffragan Bishop of North Tokyo from 1924 to 1935, and Bishop in charge of new diocesan work of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Japan from 1942 to 1946.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. in All-Saints Episcopal Church of Pasadena. Arrangements are in charge of Turner and Stevens Mortuary.
Leaves Widow
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mary Gordon Reifsnider; two sons, Charles Shriver Reifsnider Jr. of Pasadena and John Gordon Reifsnider of Glendora, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary R. Coghill of Sherman Oaks and Mrs. Alice R. Papp of Van Nuys.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Heart Association.
He was buried in 1958 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Frederick Co., MD, Findagrave #27424803.

James Kent Lewis
James Kent Lewis, age 78, died at home on Saturday, May 28, 2016. He was born in Battle Creek Michigan in 1937. He went to high school in Hawaii, Hong King and Tokyo, then college in Tokyo, Arizona State and graduated from San Jose State in 1961 with a degree in Photo Journalism. In the early sixties, he became the first Environmental journalist for the St. Petersburg Times, received the first Mark Ethridge Scholarship at Duke University and was the Science editor for the Honolulu Advertiser. In 1968, he moved his family to Tallahassee where he held many different offices in State Government, writing the first Environmental Laws for Florida. After he retired, he moved to North Carolina where he resided with his wife of 56 years, Jacquelin Hirth Lewis. He was an accomplished guitarist, banjoist, auto harpist and singer. He was a Master Gardener and Bonsai enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife Jackie, a son Kent Weston Lewis of Durham, NC and daughter Elizabeth Lewis Foronda of St. Pete Beach, Florida. He had three grandchildren, Calvin, Henri and Jacqui Foronda and two great-grandchildren, Melinda and Marcello Foronda, also from St. Pete Beach. His Passing will leave a void in the lives of those who loved him. A celebration of life will be held later in June.
