Twenty-two year Downers Grove resident Curtis K. Kulp, 60, died Nov. 30, 2007, in Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove.

Mr. Kulp was a commercial photographer and owner of Curtis Kulp Productions. He served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed sailing and mountain climbing. He was a world adventurer.

Survivors include his sons, Matthew and Derek; his mother, Jacqueline; his sister, Pamela Vero; and his fiancee, Eileen Keller.

Born July 1, 1930, in Highland County, she was the loving mother of Mark (Susan Schenkel) Dickey, Jennifer Dickey and Brent (Karen Dwyer) Dickey; caring grandmother of Chris, Kyle, Jill and Jay Dickey and Joel and Justin Schneider; many beloved nieces and nephews; and special friend of Candy Carson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mildred Roush; her husband of 57 years, John; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Voegele; and her three siblings, Barbara Gebhardt, Ralph Roush Jr. and Betty Jo Vance.

Jane was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University and member of Alpha Xi Delta. Following graduation in 1952, she embarked on her teaching career. Beginning at Fairfield High School, her incredible 62-year career spanned all levels of education including the preschool she pioneered at Lindenwald United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Jane actively supported the advancement of women through education and community organizations. She served as president of the AAUW and the local chapter of PEO. A resident of Fairfield for 64 years, Jane's community involvement included Friends of the Lane Library, founding member of the Four Seasons Garden Club, literary clubs, and many more. Jane had an amazing zest for life that influenced everyone who knew her. She was deeply rooted in family, heritage and tradition. She loved the adventure of travel, thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. But most of all, she loved children and their boundless energy and took great joy participating in their education and growth.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, followed by services at the Ogle & Paul Young Funeral Home, 3950 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton. Burial and a short service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the family plot at the Union Cemetery, 3021 N. Taylorsville Rd., Hillsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati Inc., P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263-3597, in memory of Jane Dickey; or Fairfield Community Foundation to the John and Jane Dickey Endowment Fund for Parks & Recreation, 5350 Pleasant Ave., Fairfield, Ohio 45014.

DICKEY John F. Jr. age 82, of Fairfield, Ohio died Thursday December 22, 2011 at his home. He was born on July 6, 1929 in Fairfax, near Hillsboro, Ohio the son of John F. and Golda (Turner) Dickey. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from White Oak High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea in the Honor Guard for the Eight Army Headquarters. His duties there included serving as a personal body guard for General Van Fleet and President Eisenhower. Following his honorable discharge, he earned a Bachelor's degree in business from the University of Cincinnati. John married Jane Roush on April 17, 1954 in Union Church of Christ, Hillsboro, Ohio. They moved to Fairfield, Ohio where he began his career in accounting. He founded the John F. Dickey & Co. CPA, where he enjoyed working with clients and friends up until the day he died. John loved his family and friends, playing golf, his country and farm heritage. He particularly loved sharing stories during Sunday night dinners with family and friends. age 74 of Fairfield died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia.

She was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on November 18, 1935, and raised in Mowrystown, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph E. and Mildred E. (Smith) Roush. She attended Miami University (Oxford) and graduated from Wilmington College with a degree in elementary education. She was a gifted teacher who loved to introduce children to the world of letters and reading. She taught first grade in London, OH, Hillsboro and Fairfield and taught pre-school at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Lindenwald United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Fairfield/Hamilton community, serving as president of both P.E.O. and the American Association of University Women and as a trustee for the Hamilton Open Door Pantry. An avid reader, she served as a board member and president of the Friends of Hamilton/Fairfield Lane Library. She was also active in the Presbyterian Church of Hamilton, serving as a deacon, elder and on many committees.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Richard L. Vance, of Fairfield; two children, R. Roush (Julie) Vance of Acworth, Georgia and Elizabeth Ellen (Steve) Elliott of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Taylor Vance, Chandler Vance, Barret Vance, Vance Elliott and Leah Jane Elliott; two sisters Dorothy Jane (Jay) Dickey, of Fairfield and Barbara Ann (Ray) Gebhardt of Cincinnati; one brother, Ralph E. “Bud” (Betty Jean) Roush of Mowrystown; a brother-in-law, Ralph A. Vance of Hillsboro and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday at the Front Street Presbyterian, 23 South Front Street, with Dr. John Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5:00pm Sunday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. Burial will be in Hillsboro, Ohio.

He was born October 27, 1931 in Highland County, OH, son of the late Ralph E. Roush and Mildred Elizabeth Smith Roush .

He was a member of the Union Church of Christ.

Surviving is his wife, Betty J. Roush, whom he married Feb. 18, 1951, three daughters, Susan Gay (Mike) Young of Sardinia, Pamela Joy (Rick) Murray of Columbus, and Andrea Jean (Jim) Bush of Hillsboro. Also surviving is a sister, Jane Dickey of Fairfield, sister-in-law, Mary Fawley of Hillsboro, eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Aaron) Fitch, Shawn (Leslie) Young, James (Brandi) Murray, Bethany (Jason) Gilliland, Jordan Murray, Katie (Vince) Rapp, Jess (Mark) Graham, and Gideon (Jen) Bush, and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Gebhardt and Betty Jo Vance.

He was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on June 7, 1934, son of James and Eleanor (Dick) Vance and was a veteran of the United States Army, where he played in the Army's band. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and played in the Ohio State Marching Band while he attended the university. BETTY JEAN ROUSH

Betty Jean Roush, beloved mother and grandmother, 87, of Hillsboro, went hometo be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday morning, March 2, 2020 at the Salyer Adult Group Home in Hillsboro.

She was born Nov. 20, 1932 in Pricetown, daughter of the late Raymond Ulric Fawley and Stella (Shafer) Fawley.

On Feb. 18, 1951, she married Ralph E. “Bud” Roush Jr.

Betty was a faithful member of the Union Church of Christ for over 60 years and became involved in the Hillsboro Church of Christ after moving into town.

Surviving are three daughters, Susan Gay (Mike) Young of Sardinia, Pamela Joy (Rick) Murray of Columbus and Andrea (Jim) Bush of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Leslie) Young, James (Brandi) Murray, Bethany (Jason) Gilliland, Jordan Murray, Katie (Vince) Rapp, Jess (Mark) Graham and Gideon (Jen) Bush; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. “Bud” Roush, Jr..; a granddaughter, Stephanie Fitch; great-grandson, Levi Murray; and two brothers, LaVerne Fawley and Gerald Ervin Fawley.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W. Walnut St., with Pastor Jim Bush officiating. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Union Cemetery near Taylorsville.

Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.

The Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home is serving the family.
