Miss Bertha Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Turner, and Mr. Chester A. Broehl of Bradshaw, Nebr., were married Wednesday evening, Feb. 22 at eight o'clock at the home of the bride. Just preceding the ceremony Miss Eula Hunt sang a solo "O Promise Me" accompanied by Miss Olive Turner, and then to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march the bridal couple entered the room and Rev. Oliver of the Presbyterian church officiated. After the ceremony a luncheon was served to the relatives and a few intimate friends of the bride. The bride has lived in this vicinity all her life and has a host of friends who wish her every happiness. Mr. Broehl is a highly esteemed young man in his home community and also here by those who have met him. Mr. and Mrs. Broehl left Saturday amid a shower of rice for Bradshaw, Nebr., where they will be at home to their many friends at Ash Grove farm, -- Halstead (Kansas) Independent.

Mrs. C. A. Broehl
Death came to Mrs. Bertha Lee Broehl, 70, Wednesday, October 1, at 9:30 p.m. She had been in failing health since July and had recently submitted to surgery.
Mrs. Broehl was born Dec. 31, 1887, at Halstead, Kans., eldest daughter of George H. and Nancy M. Turner. Her younger sister, Olive Hinkson of Lawrence Kans., made up the family. Bertha attended school at Halstead, later studying music at Newton, Kans.
She married C. A. Broehl of Bradshaw February 22, 1911 and they made their home on a farm near there, later moving to a farm near Lushton. She was a member of the Christian church since she was 17 years old.
Burial was in the Halstead cemetery where graveside services were conducted.
Many friends remember her for kindness she had done and many reminders of the beautiful things her adept fingers could do.
She was buried in October 1958 in Halstead Cemetery, Halstead, Harvey Co., KS, Findagrave #53086231.
Bertha Lee Turner lived in 1939 in Lushton, York Co., NE.

Mary Olive Hinkson
STURGIS – Mrs. Mary Olive Hinkson died Thursday evening at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the F. O. Jolley Funeral Home with the Rev. Clayton Berry officiating. Burial will be at the Halstead City Cemetery, Halstead, Kan.
She was born Dec. 2, 1889 to George and Nancy Turner in Halstead. She attended school there and was married there in 1912 to George (sic) Hinkson. They farmed near Halstead until 1938 when they moved to Lawrence, Kan. In March of 1973 she entered the Golden Age Lodge in Leavenworth, Kan., and in October of 1973 moved to the Sturgis Community Nursing Home.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Bryce Hinkson of Fort Meade, one daughter, Beth Lindenstruth, Geneva, Switzerland, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and a sister.
She was buried in January 1974 in Halstead Cemetery, Halstead, Harvey Co., KS, Findagrave #54772375.
