Biography

Carl Gene Mayeaux was born on 2 June 1931 in Big Bend, Avoyelles Par., LA; son of Louis and Mabel (Farbe) Mayeaux. He married Barbara Jean Peterson daughter of Harold Johannes Petersen and Florence Elizabeth Harner; Carl was first married to Joanne Campbell about 1954 and had daughters Cynthia and Cheryl. Joanne remarried to Earl H. Moss in 1962. Carl Gene Mayeaux died on 14 August 2016

Carl G. Mayeaux, age 85, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016.

Carl was born in Big Bend, Louisiana to the late Louis and Mable (Farbe) Mayeaux. He served in the Air Force during Korea, worked at Steelcase in Grand Rapids beginning in 1969 and retiring in 1995 with 36 years of service. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family, motorcycles, attending horse shows and showing his horses. He also boarded horses at his home for many years and worked throughout West Michigan as a farmer for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Nancy; children, Christopher (Laureen) Mayeaux, Eric (Angie) Mayeaux, Alison (Mike) Briggs, Brandy Butler and Ray Hill, David (Jamie) Henrich, Cythia Mayeaux and Cheryl (Mike) Powell; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; brother-in-law, Louis (Sandy) Czewski; sister-in-law, Sandra (Thomas) Ball and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Louis and Elizabeth Mayeaux.

A Life Celebration Service will be held 2 PM, Thursday at the Throop Funeral Home in Coopersville with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Marne Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Christian Rest Home Assoc., 1000 Edison Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49052.

Patricia Ann Harner was born on 5 May 1943 in Casnovia, Kent/Muskegon Co., MI. She married Kenneth R. Wing on 25 April 1964 in Bad Axe, Huron Co., MI. She and Kenneth R. Wing were divorced on 4 November 1980 in Marion Co., FL. She died on 10 February 2021.

Charles Henry Melnik was born on 4 October 1948 in Bad Axe, Huron Co., MI; son of Henry M. and Catherine (Bezemek) Melnik. He married Pamela Jill Harner daughter of Ross Matthias Harner and Muriel Maxine Williams, after March 1981,

; Charles had a daughter, Michelle A. Melnik, born JUN 1974, who lived in Santa Monica, CA as of 2020. She appears to have been a child of Charles' first marriage, in 1970, to Barbara Vasold. That marriage was over before 1983 when Barbara was married to a Larry Simpson and living at Saginaw, according to her father's obituary.

Pamela Jill Melnik and Stephen Edward Love were issued a marriage license during 11-15 APR 2022 at Gregg County, Texas, per a 26 APR 2022 article in the Longview News-Journal, Longview, TX, page 6A (Newspapers.com).

Charles Henry Melnik died on 11 February 2024.
