June Wolfe Barnett, age 75, of 71 Brookside Circle, Big Flats, died Wednesday, June 21, 1995 at home very unexpectedly. Friends may call at Hills Funeral Home, 69 Main St., Big Flats, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats with the Rev. June had previously been a department store buyer in St. Louis, MO, worked as a volunteer hostess at the Bath V.A. and as a guide at the Corning Museum of Glass. June was a well known world traveler having just returned from a safari in Kenya. She also enjoyed sharing her travel experiences by speaking to groups around the area with her husband Harvey.

BIG FLATS -- Ewin Harvey Barnett, Jr., age 79 of 71 Brookside Circle, died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at home. He was born April 28, 1922 in Lebanon, Missouri the son of Ewin H. and Eunice Hooker Barnett. He married June Wolfe on April 28, 1949 in Webster Groves, Missouri. She predeceased him on June 21, 1995. He married Esther Newton on November 17, 1996 at the First Presbyterian Church in Big Flats.
Harvey received a B.S. CH. E. from the Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, MO, in 1943 and a M.S. CH. E. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1950. Harvey served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was retired from Corning, Inc. as a Consulting Statistician. He was a member and former elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats, a member of the American Chemical Society, a fellow with the American Society for Quality and the Royal Statistical Society. He held memberships in Phi Beta Phi and Tau Beta Pi and was a supporter of the Big Flats Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Barnett; two sons, Ewin H. Barnett III of Boone County, Missouri and Andrew H. Barnett of Raleigh, NC; two step-daughters, Mary Beth Campbell of Blossburg, PA and Natalie Mattison of Corning; a step-son, Stephen Newton of Fallsburg, NY; grandchildren, Sabra Barnett, Peter and Emily Barnett, several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. A brother, Robert Barnett of Seattle, WA, predeceased him.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February, 10, 2002 at 3 PM in the First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats with the Rev. Rick Price officiating. Burial will be in Rural Home Cemetery, Big Flats. Hills Funeral Home in Big Flats is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be directed, in Harvey's name, to the First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats designated for the Pastoral Support Project at McKean Rehabilitation Hospital in Chiangmai, Thailand. These donations help support the hospital, their information services, computer needs and computer training for 300 pastors in the Chiangmai area.
Ewin Harvey Barnett, Jr., began military service on 19 July 1944 WW II service, U.S. Navy, enlisted, discharged 23 MAY 1946.

XENIA – Services will be conducted in Lakewood, O., Saturday afternoon for J. Martin Wolf, 43, former Xenian and veteran of World War I, who died in the Veterans’ Hospital in Brecksville, O., early Thursday after an illness of two years from heart disease.
Born at Byron, he passed his early life in Xenia and was graduated from Central High School here. He attended the Wharton School of Finance of the University of Pennsylvania and had been in Cleveland several years where he was a partner in the brokerage firm of Green and Wolf Co. He served overseas in the World War.
He is survived by his widow, Florence Jones Wolf; a daughter, Patricia, and his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Wolf of this city.

James L. Bender
James L. Bender, founder and president of Bender Sales Co. in Rocky River, had been a salesman with E. F. Hauserman Co. and a regional manager at Mills Co. Inc. before founding his own manufacturer’s representative company three years ago.
Mr. Bender died yesterday at his home of a heart attack. He was 56.
Mr. Bender was lieutenant governor for the 14th Division of Ohio District of Kiwanis International since October 1978, and was a member of the Rocky River Kiwanis Club since 1968, holding the office of president during 1973 and 1974.
A native of Trafford, Pa., he served with the Navy in World War II, then moved to Cleveland about 1945, where he attended Fenn College.
Mr. Bender was a member of Rocky River United Methodist Church and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Services will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Zeis funeral home, 16105 Detroit Ave., Lakewood.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia M.; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Leslie; and a grandchild, Heather.

JEFFREY L. BENDER, 59, of Strongsville, OH, left this world on August 10, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 23, 1952, to his mother Patricia Gillespie and late father James Bender.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Norma Bender and his children, Heather Szuhy (Michael), Jeremy Bender, Michelle Bender, Amy Nevling (Andrew). As well as grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Szuhy. He also leaves behind his sister, Leslie Eiben, brother-in-law, Charles Eiben and their children, Maggie and Jim, as well as many cherished friends. Most importantly, he leaves behind his legacy. Jeffrey was an inspiration and he touched the lives of everyone he met.
