John Edward Walsh

John Edward Walsh, 65, passed away Saturday, November 3rd at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born on July 1, 1947 in New York City, John was the son of the late John and Alice Walsh. He was retired from Stites and Harbison in Lexington and attended First Christian Church in Frankfort.

John prided himself on being active in the lives of his children and grandchildren and being a positive figure in the lives of all that he met. Throughout his life, John touched many with his strength, wit, and optimism, and his legacy is the lasting impact that he made on them.

John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kennedy Walsh; two sons, Eric Walsh (Dawn) and David Walsh (Yvonne); one daughter, Elizabeth Peters (Keith); two grandsons, Colin and Reed Peters; and one granddaughter, Taylor Walsh.

Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church with interment to follow at the Frankfort Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Taylor, Jim Hopper, Thomas Wingate, Larry Breunig, Sam Taylor, Matt Wingate, Rob Kennedy, and Patrick Kennedy.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Bluegrass or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

He was buried in November 2012 in Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Franklin Co., KY, Findagrave #103242130.

She married George Edward Buckley son of Orville Otis Buckley, Jr., and Alice Hazel Akin, on 14 January 1955 in First Christian Church, Edmond, Oklahoma Co., OK. Rocky Allen Buckley was born on 27 September 1958 in Paris, Lamar Co., TX; biological son of Roger Allen Cranford (1940-2009), son of Lester Lee and Edith Marie (Harwell) Cranford of Pushmataha County, Oklahoma. He took the surname "Buckley" from his step-father -- he may or may not have been legally adopted. He married Penny Michelle Sedwick on 19 July 1997 in Gore, Sequoyah Co., OK; Penny was first married to Choyiah Randy James (1954-1994) in 1986 and had daughters Chandra and Brandy James. Rocky Alan Buckley, 57 year old Cookson resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Tulsa. He was born on Saturday, September 27, 1958 to Charles and Neoma (Harden) Buckley in Hugo, OK.

As a young boy, Rocky grew up in Hennessey then moved to Checotah in the 8th grade. In 1976, he graduated from Checotah High School furthering his education at Oklahoma State University. Rocky went to work at Allied Bearing, then to Ft. Howard where he worked as a machinist retiring after 21 years. He later went to work for Grandview Water District as an assistant manager

On Saturday, July 19, 1997 he married the love of his life, Penny James in Gore, OK. He worked as a metal fabricator at Ziese for several years before retiring in 2015. He loved spending time fishing and hunting. Rocky enjoyed sports of all kinds and was very competitive. Rocky was saved and baptized at age 13 at a tent revival in Hennessey, Ok. In 1970 he became a member of First Baptist Church of Checotah where he was very active in the youth group.

Rocky was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rassie and Willie Mae Harden and Orville and Hazel Buckley.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Penny of the home, his Mom and Dad, Neoma and Charles Buckley of Checotah, his sister, Kim Buckley Stapleton and her husband David of Bixby, his daughters Rebecca Laney and her husband Matt of Fr. Gibson, Okla., Chandra James of Golden, Co., his grandchildren Matyson and Mattix Rassie Laney of Ft. Gibson.

Services celebrating the life of Mike will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 19, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Lane Buckley and Mr. Matt Laney, officiating. Committal prayers and Internment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of John Garrett.

He was buried in September 2016 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah, McIntosh Co., OK, Findagrave #170015806.
