Biography

Ross David Hunter was born on 17 November 1960 in Charlotte, Eaton Co., MI; son of Earl and Doris Gail (Addair) Hunter. He married Kendra Sue "Kendle" Coplin daughter of Paul Lewis Coplin and Sally Irene Schenck, in February 1982; this marriage was very bried -- it is possible that Kendra's firstborn child, Samantha, was from this marriage.

Ross remarried to Loralie Ann Cronk (1950-2021) on 7 NOV 1999. Loralie had first been married to Larry Bass and had a son, Troy Michael Bass (1969- 2021) who died in the same automobile accident as his mother. She left another son, Daniel, and a daughter, Michelle, from her first marriage. Ross David Hunter died on 10 April 2021 in Marshall, Calhoun Co., MI.

He was buried in April 2021 in Bellevue Cemetery, Bellevue, Eaton Co., MI, Findagrave #225739583.

Bobbie Oveda Bowen was born on 26 July 1923 in Appling Co., GA; daughter of Leroy and Ollie Mae (Miles) Bowen of Deens, Georgia. She died on 3 February 2018 in Mendon, St. Joseph Co., MI,

Bobbie Bowen Whittington, age 94, passed away peacefully Feb. 3, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Bobbie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a gracious southern lady and loved her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and many other activities. She was an excellent role model and teacher who will be deeply missed.

Bobbie grew up on a farm in South Georgia and was the eldest of nine children. She taught third grade in South Georgia, then moved to Atlanta to work and attend Atlanta Business College. She moved to Chicago and worked for Upjohn Company before marrying Kenneth J. Whittington. They lived in the Coldwater/Marble Lake, Mich., area before moving to Mendon. While living in Mendon, Bobbie worked as a secretary in the Mendon School superintendent's office for many years, then worked for the bank in Mendon until Kenneth passed away. Throughout their marriage, Bobbie was instrumental in Christian music ministry with her husband. Upon her return to Georgia, she successfully obtained her real estate license, but soon decided to work for her family in Atlanta when the opportunity presented.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Whittington; her parents, Leroy and Ollie May Bowen; her stepmother, Elizabeth Bowen; three siblings who passed away before the age of 5, brother Wade Bowen and sister JoAnn Bowen Mincey.

Bobbie is survived by her children K. Dean Whittington (Jan) and Pam Whittington Rye (Stan); grandchildren Jennifer, Kristin (Cameron), Bryan (Kara), Chelsea (Michael) and Jessica (Chris); great-grandchildren Erin and Connor, Ella, Ava, and Anna, Logan and Bennett; brothers and sisters, Bruce Bowen, Colleen Bowen Davis, Kathleen Bowen (Edsel) Bullard, Vena Faye Bowen Gray, Truman Bowen (Evone), Rita Bowen Taylor and families.

Bobbie was preceded in death and survived by many extended family members and friends. She could be quoted, "I love them all and want the best for each one." She spent her life doing for others, whether it was cooking their favorite meal or baking their favorite dessert using garden-fresh ingredients. She taught us the importance of "taking good care of things so they'll last." She blessed her family with many stories and laughs with fun experiences through the years to remember.

She was buried in February 2018 in Mendon Township Cemetery, Mendon, St. Joseph Co., MI, Findagrave #144599230.

Dr. Stanley Earl Rye, Dds, was born on 21 February 1947 in Miami, Dade Co., FL; son of Atwell D. and Mabel Inez (Logan) Rye. He married Pamela Whittington daughter of Kenneth Junior Whittington and Bobbie Oveda Bowen; Stan was first married to Diana Susan Zlatin, daughter of Oscar and Mary (Vogt) Zlatin, on 16 MAY 1970 at Miami-Dade County, Florida. It appears the two daughters mentioned in his obituary, Jessica and Chelsea, were from that marriage. DLB 2026. Dr. Stanley Earl Rye, Dds, died on 1 December 2018 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA.

He was buried in December 2018 in Mendon Township Cemetery, Mendon, St. Joseph Co., MI, per obituary.
