Note: The disability record at Ft. Leavenworth shows his admission in 1894 due to blindness, with his usual residence at Lincoln, Nebraska, and his next of kin John H. Elliott of Pekin, Illinois. This strongly suggests that he was separated or divorced from Susanna who was still living at that time. DLB 2017.
