Obituary (findagrave.com):

Obituary from Springfield, Missouri, News & Leader on June 11, 1987:

Phoebe "Tip" Seiler

Phoebe "Tip" Seiler, 97, Springfield, Missouri, died at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 8, 1987, in Mount Vernon Park Care Center.

Mrs. Seiler had worked as a laundress for American Laundry. Survivors include two sons, Ernest Colly of Marshfield, Missouri, and Phillip Lee of Springfield, Missouri; five daughters, Hazel Maxine West of Republic, Missouri, Frances (Fern) Painter of Branson, Missouri, Betty Pauline of Reeds Spring, Missouri, Peggy Sue Adams of Bartonville, Illinois, and Ethel Louise Hilton of Strafford, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m., June 11, 1987 in Snapps Funeral Home, Branson, Missouri. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery at Kirbyville, Missouri.

The Story of Phoebe R. Demma Snapp Seiler:

Phoebe R. Demma Snapp Seiler was born on October 11, 1889, in Taney County, Missouri, to Robert Grant & Lydia Rider Snapp. She was the 9th of 10 children born to them. She attended the old Oak Grove School off T Highway east of Branson. The school is still there, but not being used.

She married Ithamer Sank Seiler on May 6, 1915, in Cricket, Arkansas. They lived in Kirbyville, Missouri, where their first son, Ernest Colly Seiler, was born. Sometime after his birth Phoebe rode her horse & buggy to Springfield, trading them for the lots where Ithamer built their home. The old house is still there on Rogers; it has been remodeled in recent years. The other children born in Springfield are: Hazel, Frances, Betty, Phillip, Peggy, and Ethel. Their oldest daughter, Mildred Jean, died at about 10 months of age due to influenza. She is buried at Edwards Cemetery in Kirbyville, Missouri.

Phoebe was known to all of her family & friends as "Tip." Nobody can remember how she got the nickname. Nobody knows what the "R" in her middle name stands for, either.

On her 97th birthday, friends & family gathered at the nursing home to surprise her with a birthday party.

About 2004 Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, honored Phoebe by placing her name on the Taffy Shop sign. It is called, "Phoebe Snapp Taffy Shop." Her photos used to hang in there, but after the last remodel they were taken down. The sign is still in front with her name on it.

She was a great lady and a friend to all.

She was buried in June 1987 in Edwards Cemetery, Kirbyville, Taney Co., MO, Find A Grave Memorial# 23859982.
