Samuel Bushong

Samuel Bushong was born in 1794 in Shenandoah Co., VA. He died before 1850 in Ohio. He was buried in Grandview Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll Co., OH, Findagrave #22580027.
Note:
Samuel Bushong married Margaret in 1818. She died Oct 15, 1840 in Jefferson Twp, Richland County, Ohio.
In 1840 Samuel Bushong murdered his wife in Richland County, Ohio and was put on trial in July 1841. He was then 67 years of age, and was found not guilty by reason of insanity and was remanded to the custody of his brother-in-law, John Windle, husband of his sister Elizabeth. Apparently they brought him back to Columbiana County, where he had lived as a young man, and they must have sheltered him, probably until his death, which occurred prior to 1850.
Samuel built a log cabin which remained until recently. He played an important role in the early history of Carrollton. He was a friend of Peter Bohart and served as a guardian for Bohart's children after Peter's death.
Samuel and Margaret Bushong had four children:

Susanna Catharina b. Jan 7, 1828;
