Biography

Thomas Wesley Stringfield was born on 16 October 1837 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. He married Sarah Jane Mills, daughter of James C. Mills and Malinda Moody. Thomas Wesley Stringfield died on 28 September 1870 in McMullen Co., TX, The family was ambushed while travelling in their wagon, and massacred by a band of Indians raiding from Mexico. Thomas, Sarah and Adolphus were killed outright, Ida attempted escape and was speared 7 times and left for dead, and the fate of Thomas was never learned. Ida later recovered from her wounds and lived until 1937.
