SOUTH BEND - Heaven gained another Angel with the passing of the Matriarch of our family. She has gone to Heaven to be with God and her loved ones there. Mary Allene Martin, 90 years young, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family present.
Mary married the love of her life, William R. Martin, Jr., on September 26, 1948; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Wilma L. Windle and Oneita P. Prasatek. Mary leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Bettie F. Pangallo, Billye L. Purdy and Barbara A. Martin-Jordan; and her son-in-law, Robert M. Jordan, whom she loved as if he were her own son; four grandchildren, Tony (deceased), Joey and Frankie Pangallo and Melissa Burger; eight great-grand-children, Brandon, Kyle, Keaton, Coty, Tiler and Tailer Pangallo, and Christina and Michael Abarca; one great-great-granddaughter, Macie K. Pangallo; four she considered grandchildren, Rose, Lizzie and JoJo Pangallo, and Katie (Jacob) Singleton; and one she considered as her great-grandchild, William (Will) Singleton.
"Nonna Martin," as she was known by most everyone, had a wonderful life and left us on her own terms. Special thanks to Dr. Bao of Memorial Hospital and everyone at Center for Hospice Care for their caring and compassion! There will be no visitation and the family will hold a private memorial service, per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Palmer Funeral Home Guisinger Chapel, is assisting the family. She was buried in May 2015, unknown location, Findagrave #146901258.
