Charles B. Jones
Charles B. Jones, 80, of Reno, NV, journeyed to his heavenly home on April 2, 2004 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
"Charley" was born in Downs, Kansas to Ralph and Zula Jones on January 24, 1924. His family moved to Beloit, KS during his teen years where he graduated from Beloit High School in May, 1942. He enlisted in the US Air Force (sic) following the attack on Pearl Harbor and proudly served his country as a radio operator and a top turret gunner on a B-24 in the Pacific.
Near the war's end in 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Beth Davis. They moved to Denver, CO for a short time, but chose to raise their family in southern CA, where they moved in 1949.
Charley managed a metal plating company for many years. He and Beth shared two hobbies with a passion: fishing and motorcycle riding. They enjoyed several vacations riding cross country, each on their own bike.
He retired at age 77 to Reno where he and Beth sought out their favorite fishing holes. They faithfully attended Grace Church in Reno.
He is survived by Beth, his wife of 59 years, son Rod of Reno; daughters Terri Elwood, CA, Gayle Jones of ID; sister Dorothy Verhage of MI; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Contreras.
"You will be greatly missed for now, we anticipate with much joy being reunited with you when, one by one, we begin our new eternal life."
Private family services to be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
Charles Benton Jones was graduated in May 1942 in Beloit, Mitchell Co., KS. He began military service WW II service, U.S. Army Air Corps, B-24 crew member, radio operator and top turret gunner, Pacific Theater.

R. EMMERSON 'SHORTY' KOSHER, 85 LANARK - R. Emmerson "Shorty" Kosher, 85, of Savanna, Illinois, formerly of Lanark, Illinois died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton, Iowa. Shorty was born July 23, 1929, the son of Clarence and Mabel (Oberheim) Kosher in Freedom Township, Lanark. He attended Lanark Schools, and graduated with the Class of 1947. After high school, Shorty served his country in the United States Air Force from 1948-1952. He married Wanda Van Buer on December 9, 1950, in Savanna. Wanda died June 19, 2009. After his time in the Air Force, Shorty worked on the family farm-Smokey Valley Plantation-in the Lake Carroll area. He then went on to become a Maintenance Supervisor for Eaton Manufacturing for 26 years until his retirement in 1992. He loved spending winters in Bradenton, Florida with his wife, Wanda. He enjoyed going to car shows, gardening and doing anything mechanical. After his wife died, he moved to Pinnacle Place in Savanna. Shorty will be dearly missed by his son, Pat and daughter-in-law, Julie Kosher of Cornell, Wisconsin; grandson, Nathan, and his wife, Malory Kosher of New Brighton, Minnesota; grandson, Christopher Kosher, and his special friend, Kayla Guanella, of La Crosse, Wisconsin; one great-granddaughter, Camille Kosher and one nephew, Lyle (Peggy) Kosher of Hamilton, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; one brother, Kenneth, and his parents. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, with Pastor Mark Godfrey officiating. Burial will take place in Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made in R. Emmerson's name to Pinnacle Place Supportive Living, Savanna, Illinois. Friends and family are invited to share in Shorty's life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
