Biography

Robert Eastin Searcy was born about 1790. He married Isabella Ritchie McCauley on 11 September 1821 in Washington, D.C. He died on 1 November 1822 Died in military service, of yellow fever.

Note:

From Terry Searcy:

Robert Eastin Searcy was the illegitimate son of Robert Searcy (b.1768) and Elizabeth Chapman, born circa 1790. Robert became guardian on 07-14-1798 and adopted RES on 10-29-1802. RES considered Robert’s other children as his “brothers and sisters” and left them 2/3’s of his estate should he not have any children of his own. RES received appointment as a midshipman in the US Navy on 01-24-1812 and died in service on 11-01-1822 of yellow fever. He married Isabella Richie McCauley in Washington, DC on 09-11-1821. He wrote his will on 07-16-1822 just prior to departure on his final voyage. Isabella gave birth to Robert Eastin Searcy Junior while RES was at sea. The son died on 07-08-1827, not yet 5 years old. The settlement of Robert Eastin Searcy’s estate confirms most of his life’s story as the other children of Robert Searcy (b.1768) believed they were entitled to a portion of the estate since the only child died in 1827. Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):

Elizabeth "Mickey" Wendell, 85, of Waco, died September 11, 2015. Services will be at Victorious Life Church, 7459 S IH 35, Robinson, Texas, Thursday, September 17, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Pat Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, at Victorious Life Church.

Elizabeth "Mickey" was born November 11, 1929, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she lived and attended school until the family moved to East Cleveland, Ohio, in 1943. On her 17th birthday she met her future husband at a dance studio. They married eight months later on August 15, 1947. She then worked as a waitress in the restaurant that her husband co-owned. Her husband, an Army Air Corps World War II veteran, re-enlisted in February, 1950, into the United States Air Force for navigator training. During his training period, she again became a waitress at the Ellington Air Force Base Officer's Club. The day before he received his commission as an officer with navigator wings, she was a waitress; the next day she was an officer's wife! What a thrill it was that day! Several years later he received his pilot wings.

Mickey gave birth to five children during her husband's career in the Air Force. She dedicated her life to her husband and children. At Laughlin AFB and later, when stationed in Austin at Bergstrom AFB, she was a Girl Scout and a Boy Scout leader.

While stationed at James Connally AFB from 1957 to1962, Mickey and Glenn built the Cloverleaf Mobile Home Estates in Bellmead. After his retirement at Bergstrom AFB, Mickey took the initiative to start a day care for young children in their Austin home for several years while her husband commuted back and forth between Austin and Waco to continue to do further expansion to their mobile home park. In 1982 the family moved back to Waco.

During the 80's and 90's, Mickey was an active member of the Waco Civic Garden Club, serving as Vice-President and President for many years. In her later years, she continued to be a loving, generous person as well as care-giver to all. She was a devoted, proud and topnotch mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years; and their five children: son, Glenn H. Wendell Jr. and wife, Laura, of Waco, daughters, Laura Smith and husband, Phillip, of Arlington, Martha "Martie" Rodriguez and husband, Bob, of New Braunfels, Glenda Brackmann and husband, Herbert, of Waco, and Constance "Connie" Lednicky and husband, Steve, of Waco; and sisters, Ruthie, Niney, and Delores, of Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren

Waco Tribune-Herald: 9/15/2015...Z19.

She was buried in September 2015 in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Waco, McLennan Co., TX, Findagrave #152323152.
Elizabeth Ann Gelofsack was also known as "Mickey" Gelofsack.

Biography

Dr. William Wendel Searcy was born on 21 March 1810 in Nashville, Davidson Co., TN. He married Emeline Malone Johnson, daughter of Benjamin Johnson, on 30 May 1833 in Williamson Co., TN. Dr. William Wendel Searcy died on 22 March 1874 in the home of his daughter Mrs. John Bysor; on White's Creek Pike, Davidson Co., TN, Angel Family Records - Diane Wyman Brenum, brenum@earthlink.net. "Dr. William Wendel was born March 21, 1810, in Nashville, Tenn., and died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. John Bysor, in Davidson co., Tenn., March 22, 1874. If he were present with us in the flesh, he would emphatically disclaim against a fulsome eulogy for he was the soul of modesty and a stranger to vanity. It would be extravaqgant of me to affirm, that, as far as poor human nature would permit, he walked in all the ordinances and commandments of the Lord blameless. An old friend, who had known him long and well, remarked that "he had never known a man of stricter integrity." An honorable, high-toned man of the old school, he would not stoop to a mean thing. He never violated a contract, and his promises were all fulfilled. His word, whether spoken in haste or with deliberation, was indelible and unchangeable as his signature. He had but one character, he was a Christian and a gentleman at home with his family, and he was the same man abroad. He graduated in medicine with the highest honors at the University of Pennsylvania in 1831. Devoted to his profession, and fond of refined literature, he was a close, untiring student up to the day of his fatal illness. No subject could be breached in science or theology with which he was not familiar. His contributions to medical journals (of which he furnished many, years ago) was elegant in diction and displayed fine literary taste, and were univerallly read with approval by the profession. At the time of his death he was (and had been for many years) a member of the M. E. Church South. Early in life he became a student and admirer of the works of Emanuel Swedenborg. He told me that he regarded the philosophy of Swedenborg as a beautiful science, that presented the relations between God and Nature by its charming correspondences more perfectly and lucidly than any other system. He stated to me, time and again, that "he did not think it was the wish or intention of Swedenborg that a visible Church should be constructed out of his teachings; and he regretted that a beautiful science, that should be the common posession of all the Churches, should be merged into one sect." He performed all the duties imposed by the Church to which he belonged, and his board was free to the itenerant preacher. His enjoyments were with his wife and children at home - there he was happy and contented. A few years since his wife, a pure Christian woman, went over into the Promised Land. The strong man was staggered by this blow, and he has been praying and longing to di[------] since. Death was but a joyous transition [-----]n; he talked of death as the Gate of Life. He was conscious to the last moment and testified that the Valley and Shadow of Death was illumined. With the exception of two - an absent boy and girl living in distant States - his children were about him when he died; he leaves to them a precious legacy - a good name and a beautiful memory. W. M. Green.
