"Funeral services for Rev. STANLEY CARTER, 83, of Athens, were held at 2:30 p.m. today in United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Archie Fleming officiating. Services will be held at noon Saturday in the chapel of Forest Park Lawndale, in Houston, with the Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Arrangements are by Foster and Brown Funeral, of Athens. The Rev. Carter died Wednesday, February 5, 1985, in Athens Hospital. He was born June 5, 1899, in Mexico City, the son of a Methodist missionary. He attended Randolph Macon Academy, of Front Royal, Virginia, Southwestern University, Georgetown and Boston University. In 1951, Southwestern University honored his achievements as a clergyman by conferring on him a Doctorate of Divinity. His career began at the First Methodist Church, of Houston, where he served as director of religious education and associate pastor for 15 years. His first charge as pastor was the first Methodist Church of Troup. Others were First Methodist, of Carthage; Collins Memorial Methodist, of Houston; St. Luke's, of Kilgore; First Methodist, of Marshall, from 1948 to 1950; First Methodist, of Longview; Garden Villas Methodist, of Houston; and his last pastorate with First Methodist, of Athens. The Rev. Carter served between 1950 and 1956 as first superintendent of the newly created Houston-East District and between 1959 and 1965 as superintendent of the Palestine District. He retired in 1970. Survivors include one son, Stanley Hill Carter, of Athens; one brother, Hugh Carter, of Princeton, New Jersey; and one sister, Cornelia Keith Carter, of Alexandria, Virginia."

He was buried in February 1985 in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Harris Co., TX, Findagrave #199779867.

Searcy, son of Dr. William Wendel Searcy and Emeline Malone Johnson, about 1875.1 Leonora Estelle House and William W. Searcy were divorced before 1900. She died in 1926 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.

She was buried in 1926 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.

Mrs. Thomas K. Turner died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her son, Frank Turner and family, of Cleveland Township. Death was due to a complication of diseases and old age. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 78 years, 3 months and 27 days.

Caroline Houston was born in Greene County, Ohio on August 8, 1837 and was the daughter of Archibald Houston. In 1864 they moved from Ohio to Richland Township, Whitley County. She lived in Richland Township until the last few years until she moved to South Whitley and kept house for a time, later living with her son, Frank and his family.

She was united in marriage to Thomas K. Turner; five children survive. They are; W.T. of Idaho; D.H. of Oregon; Joseph of Columbia City; B.F. "Frank" of Cleveland Township and Mrs. Laura Henry of Richfield, Michigan. Fourteen years ago, Mr. Turner preceded her in death. Mrs. Turner had been a member of the Christian Church for many years, but recently

transferred her membership to the German Lutheran Church.



She was buried in December 1915 in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Whitley Co., IN, Findagrave #102442312.
