U.S. Veteran Robert Leo Wyscarver, 92, of Quaker City, passed away Monday (August 27, 2012) at Emerald Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Barnesville.
He was born June 12, 1920 in Beaver Township/Noble County, son of the late William and Myrtle (Buyas) Wyscarver.
He was a 1938 graduate of Batesville High School.
Mr. Wyscarver was a US Navy veteran, having served during WWII.
He was employed with V.O. Menuez of Millersburg and later retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
He was a life-long farmer and a fifty-plus year member of Grange.
In his younger years, he enjoyed baseball, golf, bowling, fast pitch softball, and horseshoes.
On February 2, 1939 he married Grace Marie Long, who passed away May 30, 2008.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl House; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Wyscarver.
He leaves a daughter, Joyce (& David) Wehr of Beallsville; three sons, Ronald Wyscarver of Barnesville, Gerry (& Dorothy) Wyscarver of Westerville, and Richard (& Sheryl) Wyscarver of Quaker City; three sisters, Marie Stoneburner of Salesville, Dorothy McKinistry of Huntington Beach CA, and Lucille (& Emerson) Christman of Cambridge; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Shelly Lucas; and a special friend, Sally Dingus.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, and also on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (August 30, 2012) at 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, with Pastor Mark Slay officiating.
Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Kennonsburg United Methodist Church, 57599 Kennonsburg Road, Quaker City OH 43773; 2) Quaker City Fire Department, PO Box 326, Quaker City OH 43773; or 3) Hospice of Guernsey, Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.

Grace Marie WYSCARVER nee LONG.
Grace Marie (Long) WYSCARVER, 87, of Quaker City, passed away Friday (May 30, 2008) at Emerald Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Barnesville, surrounded by her family. She was born November 21, 1920, in Wayne Township, Noble County, the daughter of the late Ellis Dale and Audrey R. (Rich) LONG.
She was a 1938 graduate of Batesville High School.
She was a lifelong homemaker and retired from March Electric after 28 years. Mrs. WYSCARVER was a lifelong and faithful member of the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church, member of the Kennonsburg and Pomona Grange for over 50 years, and member of the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church Ladies Good Cheer Circle.
She loved to bowl and golf.
On February 2, 1939, she married, Robert L. WYSCARVER, who survives. Together, they were married for 69 years.
Other survivors include, three sons and their wives, one daughter and her husband; one sister, and 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Grace's niece, Shelly LUCAS.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Mary Eileen LONG.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Pastor Sturman Moore and Rev. Mark Slay will officiate the services with burial in the Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church Building Fund.

QUAKER CITY -- Ellis D. Long, 77, of Quaker City Route 1, a retired farmer, died at 3:45 p.m Friday at his home. He had been in ill health and was a recent patient in Bethesda Hospital.
He was born Nov. 13, 1898 in Noble County.
Mr. Long was associated with Barnesville Livestock Association, and was a member of Kennonsburg United Methodist Church, Kennonsburg Grange and Noble County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are his widow, Audrey Rich Long, whom he married in 1919; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Grace) Wisecarver (sic) of Quaker City Route 1 and Mrs. Jimmy (Melba Lee) Carpenter of Barnesville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Walter Doudna of Delaware.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eberle Funeral Home here where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery.
