From John P. Kirkpatrick
In Grandma Flack's Scrapbook, Published by the McDonough County Genealogical Society, Volume 4, Page 15 is the obituary of Robert Pennington: Life Sketch of Robert K. Penningston. Eldest son of Archie and Amy (Musgrove) Pennington was born near Industry, Ill, and passed away at the San Joaquin hospital, Calif. Jan. 20th at the age of 30 years, 6 months and 2 days. He received his education in the
Industry high school graduating with the class of 1921. He also attended the University of Illinois. On July 11, 1925, he was united in marriage to Blanche
Kirkpatrick. To this union was born two children, one son Robert Kenneth, age 7 and one daughter, Dianne, age 2. They lived on a farm south of Industry for about three and a half years, moving to Los Angeles, Calif., where he obtained a position as Civil Engineer in that city. Last October he was employed by the state, advanced to district assistant engineer at Angel Camp. On entering the hospital for an examination a few weeks ago, they found an operation was necessary, from which he did not recover, only long enough to realize the end was near which he met bravely. Besides his wife and children he leaves his father and mother, one sister
Pauline of Los Angeles, and one brother Billy Rian at home. A sister Dorothy, preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends.
