William Jackson Carter Jr., 63, 4003 Navaho Drive, died Friday, May 3, 1991, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Carter was a lifelong Washington County resident and son of the late William J. Carter Sr. and Anna Bowman Carter.
He was a member of East Unaka Church of Christ.
Mt. Carter was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eloise Wilson Carter; one daughter, Ann Carter, of the home; one son, William J. Carter III, Gray; three sisters, Anne Gaudet, Johnson City, Margaret Anderson, Chattanooga, and Janice Walker, San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Robert B. Carter, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Carter
Robert Bowman Carter, 1504 Woodland Ave., Johnson City, died Thursday, December 16, 2004, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
Mr. Carter was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, and a son of the late William Carter, Sr. and Anna Bowman Carter.
Bob graduated from Science Hill High School in 1949 and attended the Citadel for two years before receiving his B.S. degree from the University of Georgia.
He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College Of Law in 1956. Mr. Carter was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. Mr. Carter practiced general law specializing in real estate and bankruptcy in Johnson City until his retirement in 1999.
He served on the Panel of Chapter Seven Trustees for the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Tennessee for 15 years. Mr. Carter was founder and the firs Chairman of the Board for the former Mountain Empire Bank. He also served as board member and Chairman of the Board for the Emergency Medical System.
Mr. Carter was a member of Central Baptist Church and the William Rigell Sunday School class and also served one term as Church Moderator.
He was a member of the Unaka Rod & Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Carter was an avid outdoorsman, nature preservationist and a worldwide adventure traveler. He developed and operated with his son a 1400 acre elk and deer preserve, the “Broken Arrow Ranch”, in Hawkins County.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his brother, William J. Carter, Jr., in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Sue Bolding Carter, of the home; two daughters: Cindia Carter Jumper and husband, Cal, Slidell, LA, and Lisa Carter Hickok, and husband, Doug, Plano, TX; one son, Robert Bowman Carter, Jr. and wife, Teresa, Rogersville; five grandchildren: Suzanne Jumper, Amy Jumper; J. Cal Jumper, Carter Hickok and Kramer Hickok; three sisters: Anne Gaudet, and husband, Warren, Johnson City, Margaret Anderson, Chattanooga, and Janice Walker, and husband Harold, San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Eloise Wilson Carter, Johnson City; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service for Mr. Carter will be conducted Sunday, December 19, 2004, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Central Baptist Church with Dr. Ronald Murray and Rev. Willard R. Warfield officiating. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Cal Jumper, Doug Hickok, Bill Carter, Larry Haynes, Jack Cox, Jackson Cox, Morgan Cox and Carter Hickok.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of the church.

Eloise Carter
Eloise W. Carter, 80, 4003 Navaho Dr, Johnson City, died Sunday, November 26, 2006, at her residence.
Mrs. Carter was a native of Greene County, and a resident of Johnson City for much of her life. She was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Mae Hensley Wilson. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker. She was a member of the East Unaka Christian Church.
Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Carter, Jr., in 1991; a brother, Billy Wilson and a sister, Gladys Tweed.
Survivors include her son, William J. Carter, III, and wife, Paige, of Johnson City; her daughter, Ann Carter Cunningham, and husband Rocky, of King, NC; four grandsons, Will and Brad Carter, of Johnson City, Kenny and Joseph Cunningham, of King, NC; two brothers, Luke Wilson, Roseville, MI, and Jack Wilson, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral service for Mrs. Carter will be conducted Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 11:00 AM in Monte Vista Memorial Park with Dr. Wayne Emery, Minister, officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 28, 2006, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home. The family wishes to thank Eloise’s special caregivers, April and Betty and Diana of the Helping Hand.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the memorial fund of East Unaka Christian Church, 1201 E. Unaka Ave., Johnson City, TN, 37601.
